What is it with me and hand-me-downs?!

I’m like a crazy cat lady, but instead of stray cats, I pick up stray models that are started and never finished…

First, it was the T-90A; then the M1150, and now, this. I swear, I have issues. :stuck_out_tongue:

Reynier. Showing some kindness to orphaned kits, those less well off and not treated as tenderly as others, is a sign of a true compassionate modeller. Never be ashamed of showing that supportive side. Taking a troublesome kit on, and turning its life around to make a strong upstanding part of the styrene community is no easy task, you should be proud.

I dunno. Guess I have a soft spot for the underdog.

I do have plenty of projects I can sell you….real cheap like. :smiling_imp:

This kit is one of them. :pensive: I need to finish it or any of the other ones.

There’s nothing wrong with “hand me downs” where models are concerned. That just means that you were saved some work on the build. If it’s of a subject that you like, then it’s double the pleasure. It’s your model, hand me down or not, build it the way YOU want!

Bargains and hand-me-downs from contests and shows have built my stash and spares box. I’ve been able to get good stuff and done some nice projects. There’s been some missteps but overall a good thing. My 2 cents.

Oh! Don’t get me wrong; I’m a bit of a sucker for cheap kits. I’ve built several and enjoyed the process a lot.

Case I point. The RFM M1150 started as a hand-me-down and so far. It’s coming along solidly.

Another hand-me-down; this Meng T-90A was also partially built. Enjoyed it as well.

I’ll get it built and I will enjoy it.

Plus, my Tamiya T-34/85 needs a brother. :kissing_smiling_eyes::+1:

That’s the sign of a skilled modeler with patience who’ll take someone else’s jacked up build and finish it to a high level!

Kudos  :bouquet:

Thanks for the kind words, Wade. It motivates me to work hard on my builds. :kissing_smiling_eyes::+1:

Indeed,
I have a few of those in the stash as well.
Parts tilted 35 degrees and glued on with tube glue.
A Tamiya Dragon Wagon, nothing glued together so it’s fine in that respect
but all parts, and I mean every single one, have been cut loose from the sprues.
I think the original owner cut off the sprue either side of the little number tag so they
are somewhat easier to identify. When the box is tilted sideways the heap of
parts look like a little dark green ant hill …

Well, TBH, in the few minutes I decided to do a quick inspection on the kit, I did find a few issues, the most glaring was the wrong driver’s hatch was glued in place, but it was a very quick fix; the turret is fully assembled and everything was in order; the lower hull was partially assembled and the suspension seems to align; though i have not checked for that just yet.

I will have to sit down and see what i have and what, if anything, I’m missing. Lucky for me “beaddreamsllc” has a couple parts trees available for sale on eBay that i can use to get any missing parts; plus Sanxin makes a set of metal tracks that will fit perfectly. Same se i used on my Tamiya build.
