What? No accurate modern US water cans?

Interesting. I never noticed until now. I haven’t gone through everything but a quick search of Tamiya, Italeri, Meng, AFV Club and E.T. Models yields not a single correct can.

What do you think of Eureka XXL?

Or Live Resin?

T-Rex Model are very nice too.

The issue with all the styrene ones is the seem line in the middle of the width.

Brilliant. I’ve actually used their products before, namely the 25mm ammo boxes. I didn’t think to check them. Thanks.

They’re the only ones I’ve seen that get the bottom correct:

Several makers don’t even put ridges on the bottom, which look okay from the side:

My own attempt, after 1 am last night, to make one. With better spacing it might look okay after paint.

Even the best ones have a squarish profile to the handle that needs to be corrected.

With that little loop on the cap, these Eureka ones are hard to beat. Will be ordering.

He used my can as reference… As he did with the 25mm box.

Hast du zufällig die aus Stahl auch? Die könnte ich auch gebrauchen. Ich glaub’ die gibt’s nicht für 25mm.

Legend’s look pretty good too.

Apparently, there are/have been the other versions as well.

Good old Legend. I’ve got nearly everything they’ve ever done, Didn’t think to check them last night. (usually involves moving a bunch of crap around)

Here’s a CAD I have - not my design but someone else gifted me:

While the bottom details issue can be ignored,
A totally wrong shape can’t be
Example from MicroCosmos:

Except in the case where the can is on its side, which is why I needed the ones with the circular pads underneath.

Wait, aren’t you the guy who won a competition even though you didn’t paint the bottom of a tank?

Tamiya’s water cans have the ridges.

True. but nobody saw it. I’m replicating a photo that shows the bottom of the water can, so I want it correct.
I’ve got plenty of those Tamiya sets - each one come with two water cans with the ridges. They’re fine when viewed from the side. I imagine they were easy to mold that way.

I’ve even got others that are hollow on one side but otherwise okay - they get sandwiched between others so no one is the wiser.

I throw my 2 cents in. I have the old black water can.

I think the black one are around since 1977 or so. So maybe Scepter Canada changed the design in between. For comparison, a Bundeswehr 20 Liter Wasserkanister from 1971.
