Yes indeed ! I remember twisting the wings time and again to try to establish reasonably level flight .
Later versions had a notch on the underside of the nose for a slingshot type rubber band launcher.
Can’t hurt to try!
Never knew that kit of Blue Thunder existed at that scale. I heard one of the Japanese companies did one at 1/48.
Have to admit to being slightly miffed that Monogram didn’t take the opportunity to also do a 1/32 Gazelle at the same time. They’re nearly there with Blue Thunder! Would go down a treat as it’s a smart little helicopter that’s seen a lot of use around the world.
I agree with you.
These BT kits are really hard to find now- but I have 2 in my stash so I’m gonna tear this RC Bell down and see what I can see!
Nice! Would be interesting to see what’s in the Mig-29 box. I’ve got their previous Ghost and Wild Weasel Migs.
there you go https://www.super-hobby.fr/products/MiG-29-9-13-of-Ukrainian-Air-Forces-with-JDAM-ER-Bombs.html I got the ghost and the HARM one.
Love that scheme on the box art. I think I will do it on a MiG
I’ve recently become more interested in the Vietnam War, so I added these two
The Zokei Mura F-4 is a beauty of kit!
I’ve always liked the strange look and wing root intakes of the Thunderchief, so I decided to get one not doing much research. Gosh this thing is HUGE. It’s longer than any other fighter in my stash including the Tomcat and Strike Eagle. Nearly as a long as a B-17
I might add a Super Sabre and Skyhawk at some point too. I hope magic factory releases an A-4E. The hasegawa kits are awesome but come with no ordinance
Nice!
Did an F-105 in 1/72 last year and was surprised at how big it is. A giant in the bigger scale!
I’m liking building the Hobbyboss Mi-2, so treated myself to another one.
This time the Mi-2URP-G, with AT-3 Sagger wire-guided and SA-7 Grail IR missiles.
I was missing a Panther from my Grumman cats and SprueBrothers had a 20% off Trumpeter sale last weekend. I had a built F-84F on the shelf but it didn’t survive the move. This Kinetic kit was < $20 so I grabbed it as well along with masks and a corrected nose.
Haul arrived from Scale hobbyist.
I have wanted a Skyhawk for forever but a lot of places were constantly out of the E/F, so I jumped on one of those! Also added an A-7 for my growing Vietnam collection.
Also added some paint for the F-105 and F-4 I added, plus some ordinance as the Hasegawa kits don’t come with any. The Zuni pods from Eduard are for the Skyhawk, which also get 2 rockeyes per inbound station. The other bombs are for the A-7
Finally being from Canada I added the Cf-5
I know the kit has some fit issues but there are some good threads on fixing them before they become a problem
My grandpa was in the RCAF for 35 years or so, so I love Canadian birds. I still plan to add a CF-104 starfighter
Stuff that I picked up this week…
What I do love about these lacquers is that they adhere great to plastic without primer, and once that they have dried and cured you can do any oil, enamel, or acrylic washes over them without a clear coat in between the layers
Even with issues, it is a nice kit, the CF-5A. We still have a couple of F-5Es flying around here, but they really show their age and the Patrouille Suisse will be disbanded very soon.
Marines might be interested in those planes and parts. Sept 2024 we stood up VMFT-402 for an east coast adversary squadron. Most of our planes are old Swiss E’s converted to N’s. On my list of many projects is to build a 1/32 N with 402, and show most of its life in 1/72. Swiss (grey 016), Navy E (sand 23), Marine E/N (grey 03) as the Hobbyboss kit has all the markings.
The new 402 markings have to be sorted out with probably AeroMasks and/or get the wife a cricket and make my own unit mask.
Yes, I have seen a couple of Ex-Swiss Air Force F-5E II in adversary squad pictures. It’s rather nice they still have a life. I actually don’t know how many are still airworthy apart from the Patrouille Suisse jets. well, the F/A-18 is getting old too and we are waiting for the first delivery of F-35A’s
I think all USN/USMC F-5E/Ns are ex-Swiss planes. We do have some two seat F’s, not sure about their history.
Beautiful A-7!
Thanks Doc! Not too bad for being an old Monogram kit.
Have been waiting for the reissue of the Boeing Clipper since it’s announcement and my LHS has had a delivery.
I bought an older boxing second hand a couple of years which had rotten decals. So grabbing this now makes sense as I can do both the Pan-Am and BOAC schemes.
The new decals are beautiful. The camera didn’t quite pick it up, but the BOAC markings have a fine polished silver outline.
Still considering getting another to do in the Navy blue colours. Would make a nice trio.
