What the postman brought today (AeroScale)

It did; I sort of fantasised about it say, up against a Do 335, a Ta 152 or a Luftwaffe Shinden - the sort of thinking that gets me into a lot of modelling trouble(!)

Brian they also kitted it as a What-if

Waiting for a new one in 1/48 as the last one was by a company called Silver Cloud in 2003

They did, but I wasn’t really interested in SE Asia or RN. When I do get around to tackling it I might filch some markings from an ancient Frog late Spitfire I’ve got somewhere. The possibility of adding a few rockets also comes to mind, but will have to be feasible whatever I do with it.

Oh, no, don’t say that Stephen… I too am holding out for the 1/72 Hobby Boss devastator…

Well they have recently done the Avenger in 1/72, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’ve always wanted to do a collection of early Pacific aircraft. Flyhawk have some Dauntless (still got to get one) and we’re spoilt for choice with Wildcats, but still no Devastator. Even the ancient Airfix goes for silly money.

I’ve a Flyhawk Dauntless in the stash and its a very nice looking kit-hopefully builds as well… Strange that no other 1/72 a/c have come out of Flyhawk…

Hopefully HB come good soon with their Devastator-an a/c of significance but seemingly missing in 1/72…

Looks good. Interesting to see how that decal on a aluminium strip will work for the ammunition belt.

Came across the KP rebox of the AZ Models SR.53 earlier in the week and thought why not get it while I still can. I missed out on this one first time, but I did bag 2 of the What-If boxings. This new release also has a 3D printed ejection seat, nose gear leg and wheel as well as canopy masks. It would have been nice to have the main gear also 3D printed and those crude Firestreak missiles should’ve been replaced too. Even if dummy missiles were only ever carried during the test flights. I’ll probably just use the supplied instrumentation pods when I build it.

Torpedo-bomber tumult!

Thoroughly enjoyed my Hasagawa Grace. Surprised by the gap along the wing roots. It’s in a feature at the original Aeroscale.

Looking forward to you building it.

That looks like a fun one. I’ve got a soft spot for prototypes and X-planes.

Hopefully it should be. It’s one I’ve seen a lot of as the sole survivor is on display at RAF Cosford Museum not far from where I live (unless they’ve moved it. A few of the research collection have been dispersed to other museums). It’s quite a small aircraft.

There was talk of an X-Planes campaign it would be perfect for. Not sure if that’s still happening but it would be great if it went ahead.

An x-planes campaign would be fun. Maybe I’ll start one later in the year if nothing else pops up before then.

Cool. It’ll be waiting till then. Along with a few other British experimentals.

I actually found both of the What-If SR.53’s today so I’m going to create a build log for those soon.

Found this for five bucks at hobby shop where I found the Huma models. Supermodel has a soft spot in my modeling heart and I’m trying to build the ones I never did.
