Also got a crate of cans of Stormtrooper beers from my sister, selection of bottles from some friends and the in-laws bought both of us tickets to see Harry Hill next year (hers is next week).
It’s depicting a specific event — according to the page at the Aviation Safety Network site, there were actually five crew, one of whom appears to have been the group commander in addition to the normal crew of four. Damaged by ground fire, the pilot successfully ditched the aircraft.
It definitely gets your attention! I think they did something similar with the first boxing of this one. I remember it came with the markings of the Do17 that was recovered from a beach on the south coast a few years ago. Shot down by Defiants iirc.
@phil2015 yes and I think Airfix have included them all. Will have a proper look at the sprues later today. Must’ve been very cramped!
It looks like there are 4 from the instructions. I wish there were substantial crew in all their kits. I will probably need to get one of these. A few years ago I was trying to get kits of all the planes (well, most of them) participating in the Battle of Britain. This one was OOP at the time. I’ve kind of moved on, but maybe I should get it while it’s available.
I’m hoping, it being newer, it is a nice build. I was a little disappointed with the Blenheim.
It would probably be worth getting one while it’s still available. The pricing of the first issue became silly when it went oop.
Good news is that it does include BoB markings.
I’ll be doing mine in the Operation Mercury colours. Have the first one somewhere to do in BoB markings. I can count 4 crew figures and 4 seats in the instructions, so where they squeezed a 5th on that sortie is a good question!
I haven’t heard anything bad about the Airfix Dornier. The Blenheim really should’ve been good but the poorly fitting bomb bay and bulged Bolingbroke cowlings let it down a little. Just a bit annoying. Hasn’t stopped me buying several though!
I’m still hopeful that they’ll do a new Battle and Hampden to complete the early war bombers line up.
Today the postman (who did not care very good for my packages this time) brought me Kinetic Gold’s F/A-18 which will be going to be a Swiss Air Force one, and the Mojave beast from Special Hobby.
The first two are replacements for kits I messed up before. The Reskits are for kits that were lacking interiors - Frog 1/72 He-111H and Johan 1/72 A6M2/-N. For the latter, I intend to scratch a cockpit using Hasegawa’s A6M2 as a pattern.
Not much, exciting really here.
Got some nice looking gun barrels for the waist guns on B-25 I’m doing. Probably a bit overkill at the scale, but I wanted something that would be a bit more durable than the kits plastic.
When I get a bit of time later, I’ll pass it through the Google translate app and see what it says.
The back side is just black and it doesn’t look as if there’s a magnetic strip along it. Just a series of raised dimples.
