What the postman brought today (Armorama)

Ok don’t be shocked.

It’s a car, and yes it’s the correct forum and thread… Just bear with me for a while.

Details look really good and this will be my first ever car and first ever 1/24 scale. You also get a nice decal sheet for doing 13 different countries VRNs should you wish - not that I will be using any of them.

Like I said, bear with me and things will get explain on a need to know basis lol…

@AKirchhoff … Andreas, you are firmly to blame for this ok

Nah - I still reckon one of these:

Oh no - what have I just talked myself into - perhaps in 1:35? Curse this ever imaginative hobby!

Hi John,

you actually did it !!! I am really curious to see it under construction. But I will not lift the curtain! That´s up to you, a lot of the guys here will be really surprised…as I was when I first saw the vehicle in question! I must confess that I also looked for a Beetle, however in Scale 1/32 or 1/35. Unfortunately, only a very basic Revell kit available in that scale. This one is much better. Good luck!

And what colour was that for arguments sake ?

Sorry John, do you mean the RMP VW? If so they were gloss black, as were the Mungas they used (I’m sure you noticed that one in the background). Joking aside, I am actually planning on a small dio involving a Munga - I’ve a couple in my stash.

I don’t think it’s generally known that during its span of existence the Berlin Bde purchased more or less, whatever it thought would do the job, such as Unimogs, any number of VW variants and of course, the Munga. In fact, as I recall they didn’t even come off the Bde’s budget, the Berlin Senate had to cough up. The price of freedom eh?

The geriatric Airfix 1:32 Beetle is also somewhat basic but the re-issue of their nearly-as-ancient Beach Buggy does lend the possibility of an improved suspension and a full motor in an opened-up engine bay.

M

How old a Beetle type are you looking for? RFM does a recent release:

The Italeri and Revell ones are re-boxes of the old CMK one. CMK did a few detail sets for it…

Went to the biggest hobby shop in Korea on Mon. located in Shindorim Techno Mart, Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul. https://www.joyhobby.co.kr/mall/main.asp?siteid=joyhobby&
The place occupies about 1/2 of a floor: guessing around 12,000 sq. ft or 1,000 sq. m. About 1/5 of that was dedicated to armor models. Unfortunately, didn’t take photos inside but it was amazing to see stacks and stacks of plastic kits as well as DEF model and Legend Prod. boxes.

Picked up these at amazing prices due to the strong exchange rate. Didn’t have enough space in the luggage to buy more…

RFM Leo A6 was 52 USD.
Academy K2 was 25 USD.

All these for 36 USD. The newly released Tamiya 35379 was around $15.

Had to catch myself from buying more resin AM items.

LP TOW turret set ~$21
LP TOW set ~$14.50
LP Droid set III ~$8
LP M1068A3 conversion set ~$26.40
DEF M1A2 detail set ~$11

Highly recommend Joyhobby if you ever visit Seoul. Don’t forget to get the tax refund (VAT refund) receipts if you buy and prepare the paperwork at the airport. I had forgotten to do that, and could have saved extra 20-25 USD if I had.

Since we’re on a bit of a run with cars, I’ll throw in my first purchase of 2 trucks from a contest: $10 for both…first time in 40 years (no, I’m not giving up armor)! Decided not only by price, but by memories from my youth helping farmers where I lived…knowing they had farm trucks like these.

Drool…

If that is anything like their other kits it’s sure to be a treat! Love me some gecko

A Tamiya BT-42 for my son and Zvezda 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV for myself…
To be honest I was pleasantly surprised by the Zvezda kit. I’ve seen an older Zvezda one before and it was… OK - not so good

New Zvezda and old Zvezda are two very different Zvezda!

Do Zvezda do their own paints ? I can only guess that is what’s shown on painting instructions along with a Tamiya equivalent ??
