If you are still at the exhibition, are more photos possible? And a brief historical background, if possible please. It is striking that most of the heads are gray.
Sorry that picture was taken near the end of the show, around 4 pm, closes at 430pm, when it had quietened down, the morning, and most of the day you couldn’t see the whole table, with the visiting and other clubs members , yes most of use are 40+ in age,
Apparently sabotage by Illegal Agents of a Deep State Conspiracy Against Me By Amazon, Fleabay, Andy’s HobbyHeadquarters & Sprue Brothers!
That’s not paranoid when their out to get your George Washington’s. (wink wink nudge)
We need better border security to prevent their minions & postal lackeys from delivering stuff like this when I’m away.

…anyway that’s what I told my wife after being away visiting my elderly mother for the last month when confronting this road block to the hobby room. Her reaction was probably about like yours, it’s good thing for me, she has a sense of humor.
Today will be epic unboxing and not much else!
@PsiFox Mark thank you for the suggestion to try fine acupuncture needles for super glue applications. The wipes are for glasses & Optivisor.
1-2-3 metal alignment blocks for kits with multiple part lower hulls and such. Sharpening stone for keeping a keen edge on blades - or trying too anyway.
Supplies, Tamiya twin bottle holder, AB siphon for Mr Paint bottles to use with my Paasche VL or that’s the idea. Triangle razor sawblade from CMK.
For another sadomasochism based old skool super detailed build sometime.
Finally ordered from Andy’s Hobby Headquarters and it was a very good experience. ![]()
Ebay stray cat needed a home.
Inspired by reading that Sherman-mania thread daily plus it’s a very cool tank.
Welp,
the parts count won’t kill you at least …
Wade you’re going to love that M4A3E8 RFM kit. It’s super quality, super detailed, and it falls together. I’m building it now and having a grand time with it. The bogies are a RPITA but do-able. I suggest R Model T66 tracks for it. You don’t want to get involved with the kit tracks. It’s a beauty of a kit.
Thank you, Matt. That’s good to know.
Looking at the instructions of the kit tracks…lets just say they were the least appealing aspect of the kit in my opinion.
Are the Rye Field tracks really that bad? Are they inaccurate or is it an issue of complexity?
Have you ever build Dragon’s Thunderbolt VII? I have one and wonder how it compares to the Rye Field offering.
I am curious because Rye Field’s A Paper Doll is on my want list.
The RFM “A Paper Doll” and “Thunderbolt VII” are the same kit, just that the latter includes the applique armor. Both kits feature T 80 tracks, whereas T 66 tracks are appropriate for WWII M4A3E8’s. There is nothing wrong with the RFM tracks per se. They are just a kit unto themselves and not my idea of fun to put together. I highly recommend “A Paper Doll”. It’s a sweet kit.
I never built the Dragon kit.
I wouldn’t be much of a Cold War modeller without trees!
'Got to represent those German forests somehow; all the way from the Czech Republic, and very speedy it all was too:
Figure is 1:35 and the rule, which is a bit unclear is a 6" one.
Got me a few Tigers from HLJ. Got the Takom big box and a Border Japanese Tiger. The Pz4 is a rebox with extra goodies.
I may have a Tiger addiction ![]()
The Doctor will see you now… ![]()

Now by god that’s a Tiger collection!
A+++++
Not quite sure you have enough yet… Maybe another two dozen will do the trick! ![]()
Seriously, though, that is impressive!
Those are some pretty sweet trees!
Looked at Model Scene’s site, now I know where Uncle NS gets his paper plants! ![]()
They do have some good stuff; whilst I aim for decent trees, their other stuff is equally impressive.
Cost-wise it worked out at around 8 quid (British Pounds Sterling) per tree, which I can live with(!)
Nice “trees” …
around here we call that size ‘garden shrubs’

Trees are the big things that a grown man
can’t reach around at chest height.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
They will be perfect in your diorama.
Fitting a 3 foot tall model tree on a diorama just isn’t workable
We had the same problem on the layout of the model railroad club I used to belong to.
A 4 to 6 inch tree scaled out to somewhere around 29 to 43 feet.
They looked puny compared to the length of the railroad wagons …
Got it. Thanks. Glad I asked.
According to the Sherman Minutia website, T80s are seen in theater starting January, 1945.
Guess I better confirm correct tracks for A Paper Doll, Thunderbolt VII, and my M4A3E8 105.
Edit:
A Paper Doll: Found one side view photo. Cannot tell what tracks but seem really thin. There are no visible end connectors. They must be T66 tracks.
Thunderbolt VII: Found three photos. Tracks definitely T66. Rye Field 5092 appears to contain T66 tracks so…everything okay?
My M4A3E8 105: Based on a photo in an old Concord book. Tracks definitely T80. Cheers for my younger self getting that one right.
Those tracks… phew
