Very nice job on that interior! Is the interior white or silver?

the real is silver and gray (from the pictures I found), I sprayed with Tamiya gray primer then brushed in silver some of the items.

Ok thanks that’s what I thought. I remember the British using silver on some (all?) of their interiors except of course the M4s they received. I’m not sure.
I believe the early Centurions were painted silver inside as well, but not sure if that changed later on . I did an Israeli Nagamashon with interior but I painted it white based on reference photos.

Insides are silver back then. Was a total nightmare as it would rub off onto everything. Modern kit now is like a semi gloss white on most things

Thanks for the info.
At 1/35, what ever the vehicle once the hull is closed not much will be visible in the end…
:hugs:

Airfix have mounted the steering wheel much too high. Fom the outside, front on through the driver’s hatch, the top of the wheel cannot be seen.
Just one of a whole list of inaccuracies in this kit.

Great photos, thank for the share!
I had noticed that there were indeed plenty of inaccuracies but since I’m not a rivet counter, mine will stay in it’s current definition.

Here are some photos of the Ferret at IWM Duxford that I took over twenty years ago:

You’re doing a fine job, but issues with this kit remind me why I’ll order a resin one from Accurate Armour while i still can. Accurate tires, full interior, and ultimately will cost less in time and money.

Work still in progress on detailling the exterior.

Dry fit test with wheels and and RR Gun (that is yet to be straitened).

That looks really good with the RR fitted. I can imagine what that sounds like having fired Charlie G’s in the past.

They still use them at BATUS? Star has a decal sheet for there. Also a number of sheets that include Ferrets.

From what I remember reading they used silver (aluminum powder and lacquer) till 1940 (?) . Then when they found the aluminum powder was more useful as Spitfires they switched to white. Not sure about post war. Lend lease stuff was left factory finish, in and out(mostly).

Ferrets are no longer used in BATUS, and haven’t been for some years.

Practically all UK Mil veh post war (less Landrover types and trucks) were painted silver internally right up to Chieftain and Cr1.

thanks for the reference.
would that apply to the Humber scout car as well?

Difficult to say 100% as I have seen images of silver, white and green insides… some were restorations, so thats where the problems with originality start.
