Morning, yes I’ve had that in the past but just print slightly larger than required in the case of number plates or just cut very close to or even inside the edge when cutting out for application.
Hello,
I’ve just strated my first that will be from the French army fitted with a M40 recoilless gun during the Algerian war…
I have a second kit that will be way more exotic…
Nepalese army with ZPU-2 on top.
Cheers
That French version with the RR in Algeria is very interesting. Didn’t know France used the Ferret at all.
Thanks for the clarification- they look similar from a distance I guess. I noticed a parachute marking on the rear of that Ferret. Anyone know what unit this vehicle belonged too?
Not sure, but here’s a colour picture of two more:

Oh, wait, several others here as well, including:—
White kepi for the driver, so Foreign Legion, I assume for at least this one. Maybe the others with parachute emblems are from that too?
In case you wonder why the post was flagged.

in the link to that photo. Sigh …
The Entac equipped jeep at Saumur has what appears to be identical markings:
So, possibly a standard French Airborne marking; someone on here will know I’m sure; Olivier?
Not sure - colocated with French troops twice in my career and never bothered to trade with them.
However, there’s only one French Foreign Parachute Regiment, and none of their devices look like like the two (slightly different ones) in the photos.
There were a few different French parachute infantry units in Algeria. It’s a little confusing, but they were divided between Metropolitan regiments, Colonial regiments , and Foreign Legion regiments. They wore different berets and insignia but were essentially identical apart from internal organization. This is from the Osprey book on the Algerian War, 1954-62 by the way. There was also commando units from the navy and air force.
Perhaps some were fitted with M20 and some with M40.
I’m using a kit from FC Model for the gun and the wheels.
Is that a M20 or a M40?
Thank you
The caption in the image is wrong: what’s in that set is also an M20 Though it looks at first sight like it’s not greatly accurate — it certainly gives me the impression that the two handholds are too far forward, for example.
To put it simple Colonial units were supposed to be stationed in Sub-sahara Africa. Metropolitan units were stationed either in France or in North Africa. Foreign Legion units belong to the 2nd type. From their creation to the departure from Algeria no Legion unit was stationed in France.
Currently you’re right. In the past there were up to 3 Legion parachute units (battalions). All of them were totally destroyed in Indochina. Two were recreated in Algeria. The 1st regiment was disbanded after the military coup in 1961.
I’ll try to find the explanation about the parachute insignia painted on the Ferret and the Jeep ENTAC.
Olivier
Those FCM wheels are totally bad as well. Go compare with the real thing.
A few French parachute regiments operated the Ferret: 1RHP, 13RDP
