Stuck in a hole … had to get pulled out backwards
I wonder if having more weight in the bed would have given the MAN enough traction on the rear wheels to pull itself out, or if it was just too far down by the nose for that to work.
Carrying more weight has traction advantages but in this case it would be negated by the angle it was stuck in. With that angle, any weight in the rear would transfer to the front which was already stuck and make recovery more difficult. The weight would have worked better in the trucks trying to pull out the MAN

They had to bring out some “big guns” there.
I wonder whther it was the angle or maybe the suction of the mud? A combination, perhaps?
And it never ceases to amaze me how near people come to cables under such tension…

Front bumper firmly pushed against the opposite side, not enough traction for the front axles to push the dirt in front of the bumper away.
Maybe if the opposite slope had been softer …
