Will Panzer I or II Tracks fit a Raupenschlepper Ost?

Hey, Hey.

In the near future, I am considering building an Italeri Raupenschlepper Ost as an easy practice project. The model is very old and no attempt will be made to make “The Best Model Ever” ™. I want to build the thing as quickly as possible and then practice painting techniques on it. Unfortunately, it needs new tracks.

Will Panzer I or II tracks fit a Raupenschlepper Ost?

I realize a number of companies sell Raupenschlepper Ost track sets, some for the Dragon/Das Werk kit and some for the Italeri kit. They are all very expensive and some also require a replacement sprocket. At that price point, I would rather invest my money in a brand new, high quality model.

As far as I’m aware the RSO had its own unique tracks that were considerably larger and bulkier than Panzer 1/2 tracks

Thank you! I guess that one goes back into the closet.

As JC says the RSO tracks were larger. Panzer 1 tracks are 11 inches wide, RSO’s are 13 Inches. The pitch is different and the sprocket teeth are unlikely to fit.

Thank you!

At some point in the near future, I need to learn how to use a 3D printer. Replacement parts, tires, and tracks are very expensive.

Might as well use the rubber bands if you are mainly using it as a painting/technique exercise. RSO would in no way be out of place with mud hiding the limitations of the kit tracks. I recommend the Minor 3D replacements if you ever do go that way.
