Wittmans destroyed Tiger question

Hey guys, Im building a diorama of Wittmans destroyed Tiger with just the turret.

My question is simply… how do I weather it? I want it to look like the turret just recently got blown off so its to early for rust, and also in the reference pic the camo on the turret sides looks fairly intact so Im not sure how I can portray a freshly blown off look.

Any help with how I could replicate this would be appreciated.

The build is a Dragon Tiger 1 Late production turret with the interior from Verlinden.

Not rust but a dark color for heat/explosion that caused the turret to be launched.

Like what you have so far.

Agreed. I think what you have looks great! Black soot, broken pieces and twisted metal is what you would likely see

Look up pictures of tanks from Ukraine, lots of inspiration there

Hi Ezra, 007 is looking good!

This might be of interest in a general way. Diorama: destroyed-t90a-with-ua-soldier, turret did the jack in box.

Two Russian tanks that did the jack in the box may be of interest.

I suspect it burned some prior to blowing up. So interior scorching would be OK.

Hey Ezra! You’re alive! The project looks good so far. Maybe some more black scorching.

Thanks guys!

Ive managed to do this. Now to add any little remnents of the original paint and soot.

I also fixed the turret basket so that it sits at a more extreme angle like in the photo.

Looking decent enough so far?

@SSGToms Oh yeah Im still chugging away, just dealing with senior year… and enlisting in the Army as a 19 Kilo…

That turret is really looking the business! One thing I don’t know (because I never researched it…) is whether the turret popped due to the KO, or was blown later by sappers to prevent recovery of the tank. I know the crew remains were recovered and buried nearby…

Your travel agent doesn’t like you. :joy: You’re used to the heat but that humidity will be on you like a wool sweater with the heat.
