WW2 Italian ship hulls color

I have a 1/350 Italian cruiser that I want to start building before summer ends. It has call outs for a red hull but years ago I remember reading that this was inaccurate as they actually used a green hull. What color is it supposed to be?

Is there a particular dark green from one of the hobby paints anyone would recommend?

The UA 617 Verde Scuro Antivegetativo in the Lifecolor paint set is the correct colour.
