WW2 Japanese Tank Colour Query

I gather that the yellow disruptive stripes on WW2 Japanese tanks were discontinued in 1941/1942. Of the three remaining camouflage colours, which would have been the base colour? My reason for asking is that I am wondering what the colour would have been for the rear faces of the road-wheels and underside of the track guards … no doubt these would have remained in the base colour.

You worry about the rear faces of the road wheels?! What am I missing Paul?

(rhetorical question!)

Brian,

I think I’m suffering from modeller’s OCD! Actually, I was more concerned with the track guard’s underside, as this may be visible in my finished diorama. The Type 97 will be an abandoned vehicle with one of the tracks shed, and leaning into the side of the ditch … hence the underside of the track guard will be visible. On reflection, I think I’ll settle for green as the base colour.

On a different subject, are you aware that the spring Yeovil Model Show isn’t going ahead. The venue is to be changed to Sherbourne in Dorset, but we’ll have to wait until October.

Thank Paul - I knew the Yeovil show was cancelled but was unaware of the change of location; Sherbourne is not a great problem for me, but not too sure at this distance if I’ll make it; I hope so!

I would say Grass Green.
