The australian troops runs for cover backwards.

A machine gun gives covering fire.

Great dio Christian, it’s quite a challenge to convincingly portray close combat and you nailed it. Best figure has to be the Aussie vaulting the tree trunk! I hesitate to criticise anything because this is an excellent scene and (too) rare, but the uniforms are shiny when they need to be flat/matt…and I hope I’m wrong but the Aussies uniforms look very green, I would have thought they were khaki (?) One other thing, a couple of lost slouch-hats lying on the ground might look good.

Just a thought… Wouldn’t the crew of the Chi-Ha have spun the turret around to uncover the machine gun in the ball mount at the back of the turret? It seems to me that the MG would be more useful against the infantry than the 57mm gun.

Hi, thanks for your comment.

The figures all got a matt firnis. Maybe it’s the light, that the uniforms looks shiny.

With the uniform color you’re right and wrong.

I found pictures with green uniforms and uniforms in khaki color. At some pictures, uniforms looked more brown.

I think it’s the same with 50 shades of german field grey.

The newer jungle uniforms are more Green, the older ones are more khaki like in WW1.

Tactical it makes more sence, I think.

But it looks better for me with the big gun at front.

Great scene and really dynamic …. agree with Tim, the guy flinging himself over the tree trunk is lovely …. but you have also done a super job with the foliage and all the different styles and mix of colours

Very compelling diorama Christian! I think this scene is spot on:

enemies stumbling onto each other (not really a jungle ambush) and the ensuing firefight.

Altogether nicely balanced, and thick vegetation is a great backdrop. If I had to critique anything,

it would only be the firing line of the tank’s MG, but even this can be explained too I guess.

Question: Where did you get the Aussie figures, or were you able to “create” your own squad?

I do recognize some of the Japanese figures I think, but either way, all the figgies turned out quite well considering all the action poses.

Very Nice :+1:

Thanks for your comment.

The aussies are figures from MasterBox english soldiers and ICM Gurkhas.

I changed only all heads. For this I used Hornet heads.

It’s quite rare to see dioramas showing both sides clashing, so this is a real treat. Showing the Australians in the jungle green gives a nice contrast to the Japanese khaki uniforms.
