I ran across this video yesterday; the original dates from 1943, and covers the process of stripping and repainting combat aircraft, using a Spitfire as the demonstration aircraft, going into detail about all the steps in the process (as well as some of the mistakes that can be made along the way). It has some interesting insights about the things that were done preparing the airframe for painting, and has a number of what we would regard as personal-protective failures, but which were likely common practice in WWII England.
