You, my fellow sprue cutters decide!

Ok chaps, now, when I decide on a new build, I usually dither around trying to decide, then once I have chosen , I wish I had picked something else !

So, I am going to open this up to you guys to pick what I build next. There will be no bias or leaning in from me, whichever gets the most votes gets built. I will go through the 4 choices with a brief description of what building that kit will entail so you all get a general idea, other than that, it will be your choices that count.

The options.

  1. RFM King Tiger.

This will be pretty much out the box, no Zimm and with just a few little refinements if needed, and possibly metal recovery ropes if I feel the need.

  1. RFM Panther G

Again, pretty much clean OOB build with some possible extra PE from the spares if needed.

  1. Tamiya JagdPanther

This one will be getting a bit more work done with spare parts and spare PE. I will also be changing the version with the tools on the rear of the casemate and some work on the exterior.

  2. RFM T-55AMD Drozd Active Protection System

This will be again pretty much OOB with any little improvements I can add with limited Soviet vehicle knowledge.

  • RFM King Tiger
  • RFM Panther G
  • Tamiya JagdPanther
  • T-55AMD Drozd Active Protection System

I still have the Achilles to finish so this build wont start for probably a few weeks so there is plenty of time for people to vote for their preference. I thought this would add a bit of group interest in how the build plan develops ….. I will probably call time around the 11th of Oct, but will check on interest on the 4th (next Sat) to what the numbers/interest are like …. Once the build is decided, I will open up a new build thread ………….so over to you guys :+1:

Voted, and am wondering about your oob qualities..

yeah ….. I know sometimes I get a bit to into adding extra bits but 3 of these kits are really nicely detailed, so things like electric cables and the such may be added if I think they need it, but on the whole I will try to be on my best behaviour and go OOB on them

The voting results surprised me, I thought I was picking the least popular choice.
It will be interesting to see the final vote.

Funny, because when it comes to voting for a model for someone else to build, “I usually dither around trying to decide, then once I have chosen , I wish I had picked something else !”

Hard to choose what someone else wants. I would start with why you chose those particular 4 kits?

I voted and whatever wins I’ll watch with interest..

Great to see it’s garnered a nice bit of interest, and thanks to everyone who’s voted this far.

@Uncle-Heavy, agreed Robin, I thought there would interest in that kit, but not that level and I was equally surprised by the one that has least interest so far.

@TopSmith, it was fairly easy to pick that line up Greg,

1. I have a limited stash, I think it’s about 11 or 12, I’m in the camp that I only buy a kit if really needed or for a campaign etc. Sometimes I will get one on a whim, but that’s about it.

2. The chosen builds were my last 4 purchases. I was going to add my BAOR Cr1 ride, but that’s getting a lot of extra detailing and will take a while to complete, so I ended up leaving it off the list. Of the 4 here, the RFM ones are kits I haven’t seen (or can at least remember) being built as threads and the Jagdpanther although built plenty of times, will be undergoing a lot more changing around and having bits added or removed to add extra interest in that one as a build.

Be interesting to see if the voting now eases into a trickle feed after that first night’s big show of interest.

Hi John,

These are all fantastic kits for OOB builds. As long as you don’t fall down any rabbit holes! Enjoy the kit and don’t think too hard. I was astonished by the overwhelming leader once I voted. Have fun!

As was I and thanks for dropping in to follow along. The RFM speak for themselves regarding detailing so by default they should need minimal extras added. The main one like I said before that will be undergoing the most work would have been the JagdP - and you never know, it may get a few more votes hitting it up.

I voted, easy-peasy one click no thought. Now if it were me picking something for me to build, I can only do three at a time so…..

And it was just as easy to know which it was without looking !!

I tell my wife, if you give me two things to do then there is a high probability of me getting it done. Three things and one thing will be forgotten. Give me four things and none will get completed.

Ya it wasn’t a tough decision for me. No offense to the hordes of WW2 German armour fans out there but I’ve seen enough Tigers, Panthers and their offspring built in my lifetime. Let’s get crazy and build something different!

Voting has slowed now, so I will monitor it over Thu & Fri, then probably call it on Saturday :+1:

After watching this from late last night upto now, I feel it will be ok to call it done and take this as the final vote.

So the final results in order were:

  1. RFM T-55AMD Drozd - 50%
  2. RFM King Tiger - 24%
  3. Tamiya JagdPanther - 18%
  4. RFM Panther G - 8%

A little surprised at the running order but the Drozd seems to be the one that grabbed peoples interest in seeing it built, so that gents will be the one that gets a new build thread, which I will start over the weekend once I finish work.

Thanks for everyone who took the time to look in and vote for your choice, that was appreciated.

I am now thinking that to reciprocate everyone who showed interest, I may actually use this poll to do my next 4 builds, in the result order shown above, finishing off with the Panther G, so that eventually you get to see your vote choice getting built.

Once again may thanks to everyone.
