Zvezda have announced a new tooled 1/35 scale Dodge WC-54 ambulance kit.
nice. The only other maker that offers the WC-54 Ambulance is Italeri.
And Bilek as well, but i’ve never hear dof this maker before.
Academy makes a Braille Scale WC-54 with a Bomb cart as well.
It’ll be nice to see how the Zvezda model compares to the Italeri one.
The Italeri and Bilek kits are the same plastic. They both are reboxes of the Peerless Max kit from 1976.
Miniart has released some fine wheeled vehicles as of late; hope they take on the WC-54 as an ambulance.
Roden makes the later Dodge M43, which was used from Vietnam to the 1980s. Hope they do as well…
This isnt a new kit, its the same old Peerless Max/ Italeri kit.
Great news, let’s hope they do a carryall as well.
Is it a new kit or just a new reboxing of the old peerless? Inquiring minds want to know.
I was medivaced in one in 82 outta Lebanon. It was like riding in a freaking target counted 18 holes in it when we got to the hospital and that was with two stops for flat tires in hostile territory…
@Naseby @Robert_Goldman No gents, this is NOT the ancient and clapped out Peerless Max / Italeri kit! This is an original Zvezda 2024 all new CAD / CAM molded WC-54. Zvezda is producing the WC series, I have their new WC-51 and WC-52 -
And the kits are absolutely amazing. Tamiya quality. Detail, molding, and engineering are outstanding. Zvezda did a major re-org in 2018 and went completely digital in all their manufacturing and the result is kits that can match Tamiya, RFM, and Meng, but sell in the $30 range. They are readily available from shops in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Also on EBay. I’m really looking forward to the WC-54!
Thanks for the update
Zvezda is a brand I avoid but really hope Miniart covers the WC-54 Ambulance in the future.
Looking forward to this as well, if no one else will kit it.
The new ones are indeed good, but the cast texture is almost inexistent and the weld seems could be better, But probably better than Academy.
I was still holding out hope that MiniArt would tackle a new WC-54.
I have been very impressed at what I have seen from Zvezda of late, at least when it is a new model as they have come on a very long way from their early days.
The new Zvezda WC series models are equal in molding quality and detail to Miniart, but with less fiddly parts. You’d be amazed.
I agree. New Zvezda models have no relation to their pre-2018 kits and are Tamiya - like in quality.
I will be awaiting this one with great anticipation!
The WC-54 has been on my wishlist for a long, long time.
Looking forward to this and hoping for many other versions, especially a wc53.
