Zvezda SU85

I have the Zvezda SU85 and the DEF Model gun barrel. I wondered if the PE and the Quickwheel masks for the T-34/85 can also be used for this kit. I assume yes but I like making sure. Also I wish I could get Polish eagle decals which this kit does not have.

That’s not always a given. For “family” kits of single brand the risk will be lower, but you have to be aware of things like reboxing and retooling. Zvezda made a T-34 series back in the 90’s and those molds are unrelated to their more recent T-34 hull kits. I would expect problems between those two rather than expecting them to fit. So . . . You’d have to do some research about which T-34-85 kit the PE was meant to fit and whether that kit is related to your SU-85. (You didn’t say which PE set you were considering, BTW.)

If you are talking about stand alone items like tool brackets or tiedown straps, there probably won’t be any difference. You are just at the mercy of PE producer’s committment to accuracy when they designed the set.

This kit BTW.

Hi,
If you have the new (2019) kit I can speak for the DEF barrel and QuickWheel. I have this kit on my work bench and have used both of the above without issue. Don’t plan on using any PE so can’t offer an opinion.

Yeah, they only have one SU-85 and it’s new-ish. They have multiple T-34-85s though, and there are multiple PE sets available. Your best bet is to find a PE set for their new kit, 3687, that came out in 2018. If the PE set is from earlier than that, like 1998 or 2007, there’s a high risk the screens won’t fit.

Voyager 351144 and Microdesign 35292 are for the new T-34-85, but if you are buying a new set, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just get a SU-85 set like Eduard 36424, or one for the Zvezda SU-100.

Because I already have this and I really want nothing other than grills.

Yeah, those grills will fit that SU-85. They’re meant for the same “generation” of Zvezda T-34s.
