Hi everyone,
I’d like to share the final result of my long-term project — the “Pokrovsk” Diorama in 1/35 scale. It took me about a year of on-and-off work to complete, dealing with some creative blocks and reworkings along the way, but I’m finally happy to call it done.
The Build: The scene depicts a BMP-1TS near the Pokrovsk stele.
-
Base: Scratch-built using high-density polystyrene.
-
Groundwork: I used a combination of AK Interactive Dark Earth paste and Humbrol Smart Mud to get that heavy, churned-up earth look. Fixed everything with AK Interactive Sand & Gravel fixer.
-
Weathering: The ground and the vehicle were tied together using oil paints (Abteilung 502) to create color variation and depth.
-
Details: The stele is 3D printed. I added small storytelling elements like a discarded helmet, a military ID, and some crows (from Spalah 3D) to set the mood.
I’ve put together a detailed video showing the final steps of the terrain building, painting, and weathering process.

I would really appreciate your feedback and critique on the mud effects and composition!
Thanks for looking
