It’s good to see real scratch building still done.
@Makinen, here is a partial list of 1/35 HMMV’s I am doing. I will upload the rest at a later time.
Tamiya M1025 with Blast ASK set and late OIF weapons ring set. Stowage is from Blast. Finished. US Army OIF.
Tamiya M1025 converted to DUMVEE. I don’t know what aftermarket was used as I got it in a trade and it was already started. I did replace a few of the already started resin parts with 3D printed parts from Samofalov. There were some resin seats already glued in but I replaced them also with other unknown resin seats. I also scratch built the ammo stowage on the roof. The rear stowage is a resin set but also don’t know who it is from as I got it secondhand as well and it didn’t come with a box. I used a Blast weapons mount on the roof and Legend M240 for the door mount. The SATCOM is from Live Resin. Wheels I think are Panzer Art. Finished. US Army OIF.
Tamiya M1025. Got this as a bagged kit for $10USD. Converted to M1043 with scratch built tea cup turret and half moon doors with Live Resin M240 set. Wheels are from Def. Rear tailgate stowage is from Blast. Still in progress for the weathering. USMC OIF.
Tamiya M1046 TOW with Live Resin M240 and scratch built mount. The sand bags are resin I think from Black Dog for the M551 that I cut to fit the HMMWV. Wheels will be from Def. Still in progress. Going to attempt to scratch build the body armor on the outside of the doors. I printed the photo to scale and will use it as a guide for either modeling clay or plastic card. USMC OIF.
Tamiya M1025 converted to M1113 GMV. 3D printed parts from Samofalov I got off Shapeways. SAG turret, weapons and SATCOM all from Live Resin. Wheels from Def. Seats from E.T. Model. Rhino mount from Voyager. Interior set from Legend for the M1151 but I modified it for the M1113. Still in progress. I also scratch built some parts as shown with the white plastic card. The turret and all weapons are only dry fitted for the photo. US Army OIF.
Italeri M998 Command Vehicle. Wheels, intake and exhaust are from Tamiya. Still working on the weathering but it is basically finished. USMC OIF.
Italeri M998A1. Live Resin M240 set with Legend pedestal mount. Wheels are from Panzer Art. Intake and exhaust are from Tamiya. Still working on the weathering, stowage and weapons. USMC OIF.
Tamiya M1025. Got this as a bagged kit for $10USD. Wheels will be from Def and will also be adding an M240 from Live Resin. Not started yet. USMC OIF. Reference photo shown.
Tamiya M242 Bushmaster. Gift from a friend. Not started but won’t be built OOB. Will be a what if. I won’t use the M242 gun, it will be replaced with probably the OGPK turret from an Adacemy M1151.
Italeri/Zvezda Stinger HMMWV. Converted to M1025 from Generation Kill. Legend .50cal and pedestal mount set. The body and hood were badly warped. Heating with a hair dryer and or hot water trick did nothing to fix it. I replaced the body and hood with Academy M998 parts I got off Ebay. The Academy parts did not fit perfectly on the Italeri parts but good enough with a little modification. Still in progress. I need more reference photos especially for the right, front M240 gun mount and the left rear door M249 gun mount. The M249 mount lookins like it is made from part of the front windshield frame but not sure how the M249 itself is mounted. I also need more references for the radio setup if it even had one or not. USMC OIF.
Some great humvees !
I like the first one with the Blast Models weapon ring.
I plan to built something similar using an Academy M1025, Tamiya parts and scratchbuilt M240 mount but without the shield. I found some nice reference pictures.
The M1113 GMV is heavily armed !
I have built too the M998A1 Italeri. Nice kit but need a few improvements.
@Terminator, thanks and great photos! Looking forward to seeing yours. It will be really cool with the Mk.19.
I lost the reference photo of the M1113 with the Rhino mount as it was on the hard drive that died a few months ago.
Here are some other M1113 reference photos I used that show them heavily armed.
Those builds look great, that M1113 GMV looks down right angry.
Thanks! One of the reasons I am doing the M1113 is because of all the weapons loaded on it. Major cool factor. I originally wanted to do the camo M1113 shown in the last post, 3rd one at the bottom with the Hellfighter .50 cal but I don’t have enough reference photos of that camo scheme plus I would have to scratch build that bumper and side baskets. The bumper itself I could just use plastic rod and scratch the mounts but I still need more references for the full camo scheme. The tires are also different and not available in 1/35 that I am aware of.
Great job! The M1113 GMV is a very attractive vehicle. If I had access to the M1025 Tamiya, I would build a third model (I already have two). The first marine reconnaissance battalion is also impressive. Go for it—I’m keeping my fingers crossed and cheering you on.
A lot of details and equipment on those humvees. Great models.
I like the hanging weapon mount used for 2 of them.
Those are some terrific builds! The recon Marines HMMWV is one of my favorites.
