Lowered the mesh height and reshaped it to sort of match the one I used as a reference.
Also started on the Legend Ibis Tek bumper.

Looking good.
This Bronco kit is as best as you can get. Detail is amazing.
@Terminator, Thanks!
@Nito74, The Bronco kit is really nice but has some fiddly parts.
I don’t know how interested you are in building more Humvees. Since the M1025 Tamiya is no longer available, maybe you could build something like this based on the M1114 Bronco – a very impressive version.
@Makinen, Great job on that M1114. I have seen photos of similar ones from Iraq and they did pique my interest. I only have two Bronco M1114’s though and both will be USMC. One is already started and nearing completion. It is shown at the beginning of this thread.
These are some other ones I have planned. First one is another M1114. I will be doing the one on the left. I have the Perfect Scale Modellbau MAK set.
This one is an M1151. I have the Voyager USMC M1151 set that includes the side mount in front of the passenger door for the DUKE antenna.
I also plan on converting an Academy M1151 to an M1167. I have the Legend TOW set.
Here is a Tamiya M1025 I converted to an M1043 with the tea cup turret and half moon doors. I scratch built them from plastic card. Not done yet, still working on the weathering. I heated the scratch built tea cup part in hot water then placed in a jar to keep the curve.
This is where I left off. As you can see, I am still working on the weathering.
I also have a Tamiya M1046 already started.
Great plans. Competition for me is growing, but I’m very happy that there’s someone else who’s crazy about Humvees.
@Makinen, I can’t compete with you. Your builds outclass mine by far. Yours are an inspiration for me to finish mine though.
Two more I am working on. Still working on the weathering. My weathering skills are not very good.
First one is the Italeri M998A1 with some Tamiya, Legend and Live Resn parts. I forgot who made the wheels. Second one is the Italeri Command Vehicle also with some Tamiya parts. I used the Panzer Art wheels on that one.
Got the Legend Rhino and a 3D printed Boomerang sniper detection system together. I got the Boomerang way back in 2018 from Shapeways. I forgot the name of the designer. I cut the circular part off to make it look more like the one I used as a reference. The loose parts arrived broken off but luckily none of the parts themselves were broken.
I also scratch built the BFT hood mount from plastic card. I forgot where I put the Meng bolts set so I have to go search for them now.
Nice progresses.
About size of the rhino, difficult to know which brand have the right size. Legend Productions, Bronco Models ? Kinetic one in their MaxxPro kit have same size than Bronco Models one.
Blast Models one looks similar to Legend one.
About reference picture, there is a mount for Blue Force Tracker above the windshield.
Does it mean there are 2 Blue Force Tracker antenna boxes counting the one located on the engine hood ? Or perhaps the mount above the windshield is empty.
@Terminator, Thanks!
I don’t know the correct size of the Rhino. I will be using the Legend sets on all my vehicles that will have the Rhino on them. I do plan to build an M1117 ASV and got the Voyager set for the Rhino but am replacing it with the Legend Rhino instead so I can have them all the same.
The photo I am using as a reference that has the Boomerang and the BFT on the hood does indeed have the BFT mount on the top of the windshield as well. If you zoom in closely, there appears to be a BFT in the windshield mount as well so it does seem to have two BFT’s. I do plan to scratch build the windshield BFT mount but haven’t gotten to it yet. I have one from Perfect Scale Modellbau in PE and will use that one as a guide for size reference to scratch build it.
For the lights on the side of the roof, I have the Bronco light set. I need to scratch build the mounts though. The only things I don’t have are the clear gun shield and the light bar in the middle of the top of the windshield. I don’t have anything to represent those so will have to do without them. For the gun shield, I will just use the original one from the Academy kit.
Here is the reference photo I used and cropped in. You can see what appears to be the top of the BFT protruding from the mount.
I sent Legend measurements. However, it’s worth noting not all Rhinos were exactly the same size.
And they were made of wood, so bear that in mind when weathering.
Thank you very much !
I am very surprised to learn rhino frame is made with wood.
Always thought it is made with metal.
@18bravo, great photos! Very interesting, I also didn’t know the Rhino was made of wood. Good to know your measurements were used for the Legend sets.
Once again, glad they help!
The other Academy M1151 shown earlier will be from the ANA. I used the GPK turret from the Bronco M1114 kit. The fatter part of the intake was made from spares from the parts bin.
The DShK is from Miniarm.
@Makinen, thanks! I will make a list over the weekend.
Your ANA HMMWV’s look great. I chose the ANA because of the camo scheme and you did a terrific job on yours.
Got the BFT windshield mount scratch built. I used Live Resin BFT antennas.
I also added the little antenna to the front of the BFT hood mount.
Good job with the BFT box
