1/35 M3A2 and M2A2 Questions

No dimensions of the parts just yet. I will get them by tomorrow.

Here is the left side of the MCD.

Thank you very much! I was looking for exactly this angle.

Does anyone know how the MCD is connected to the vehicle? Were does this cable go?

Best regards,
Lukas

On an M1A1, yes. No idea where it goes on a Bradley. My guess is into the side of the GPS box.

There’s an auxiliary power plug on top of the turret behind the doghouse, but also underneath the right front of the turret as well.

You can see it in this Abrams (coverd up). Just next to the commander’s MG mount.

Here’s a better image of the MCS box on the Abrams. I don’t think that MCS was used on the M2 Bradley.

Note the missing bolts on the lifting eyes. The MCD rack mounts to these lacations on either side.

Oh yeah, Bradley, oops! :grimacing:

Ugh! Now you’re forcing me to look for it. It bothers me when I see it and I dunno how it’d look like…

Thank you! Do you mean the connecting cable goes linke this? The red line in the edited photo represents the cable.

@Frenchy @SableLiger Wow great pictures! Many thanks!

@18bravo This is quite interesting as it shows where the mounting legs should go. Do you have any measurements of the distance between these holes?

You would ask that. Probably the only thing I haven’t measured. In this instance I think the Mk I eyeball will serve you well enough.

If you are desiging the supports, can you design them as if they’re already mounted to the lifting eyes? Just slide the supports between the eyes and add appropriate bolt detail,

Lukas, that image is of the M1 Abrams, not the Bradley. Still looking for images of the cable attachment.

Rob/18bravo mentioned the location above in his post.

Lower right. It’s missing the outlet, but you can see where it should be.

This may help with the M2A2 ODS in Iraq as well.

If you look very closely, you can see how the power cable to the Hoffman device snakes over the grenade stowage box and then disappears underneath the gap in the turret. The excellent photo provided by Sean suggests the cable runs to the right.

Thank you! I knew it was a long shot to ask for this, but sometimes miracles happen. I can also use the good old eyeball. I will design it as if it is already mounted and keep you updated so you can help/correct me if necessary.
I could already get a good understanding of the auxiliary power plug on top of the turret behind the doghouse in your image.

But I could use the distance between the sides of the Doghouse.

@twong Yes, I was asking for the Cable location on an M1 Abrams, as I would like to built an USMC Tank, too.

@HeavyArty Great info, nice to have you on board! I learned a lot from your posts on this forum.

Best wishes

From my Linebacker walk around - a good shot of the power outlet with dust cap. It’s directly underneath the signal flag holder. In fact, everything you see in the photo would be correct for your build, i.e. old style dog house.

This is a great picture! It shows the cap quite well. Thank you very much!
