1:35 Rome Plow from Vietnam

I like this photo a lot:

Looks to me as if it’s the “house” like in the kit, plus no armor on the radiator (I think it looks good) and probably no armor on the engine sides (I’d like to show the engine off).

This photo is a mirror image (“stinger” on the blade and boxes in the “house” are on the left side of the tractor).

Thanks again for posting!

And I’m painting the engine, I should be able to have an update for you soon!

Have a nice day

I’ve edited my post. The one just above it was a mirror one as well…

It belonged to the 60th Land Clearing Company “Jungle Eaters”. You’ll find more info about this unit (and the use of the Rome Plow) in this magazine :

(the first page of the article is a bit messy…)

The one below the D9S was , I think an Allis Chalmers? We trained on them at Leonard Wood, but they were being phased out in favor of all Cats. Correction, they were IH TD-20s. Also, fromlooking at the D9 on the trailer you can see what I meant about the blade overhang. Can you imagine hauling that down a narrow 2 lane highway? Wayne

I’d rather not imagine coming at the posted legal speed from the other direction …

Wow that would make a stunning diorama!

I can tell you confidentially, that I had a diorama like that in mind - but in 1:72, otherwise it wouldn’t fit in my room

But in order to do that I’d have to design a D7 in 1:72 to be 3D printed. I could also show a green smoke grenade being used to deal with a bee attack…

Have a nice day

I have that kit… Model Miniature D-7 Vietnam Version… Looked at it recently and I can tell you that it’s really crappy. Definitely not worth what they are asking for it (about 55$!). The suspension has 7 rollers (D8?), the blade is not a Rome blade and the overall quality of the parts is iffy. So when I think about the number of corrections I have to make, and I need two tractors, then I tend to have my design 3D printed two times, and I can concentrate on the vegetation…

To say the truth, I wasn’t favourably impressed either…

OK, let me give you a proper update this time:

So here is the engine painted. I’m counting on Wayne to tell me if it’s right. Wayne if you see something to change here, please don’t hold back:

I’m also preparing the chassis to mount the engine:

I have also put some work in the “body”. Some problems there:

I think I’ll just scratchbuild the rectangular plate.

Similarly I had to fix a problem with the “bathtub”:

The winch, printed as one part is pretty impressive - at least to me, although under the paint there seem to be some problems, too:

Thanks for looking, have a nice day

The chain, the trees , what the heck is going on there? lol

It’s also shown on a video several posts above - and this way using only two dozers they can clean up a strip several dozers wide, provided there are no big trees there - like in an area, that has been cleared before and has re-grown (in a jungle that happens fast - a bamboo can grow up to three feet in a day, I’ve heard).
