Hi all- long shot here, but have been trying to track down a Cobra Company MH-60M Blackhawk conversion kit for a couple years now with no success. CC was acquired by a small operation and no hope for any production of new kits anytime soon. Any advice on where to search for one? Many thanks! Have a sweet GWOT ‘over the horizon’ diorama I want to make.
Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum, Eric!
I had/have that set, in various bags and boxes throughout the model storage facility known as my home. If I remember correctly it was an almalgamation of several detail sets, and the addition of some newer parts. I remember thinking it looked like two different people had a hand in casting the parts. Some were very well done, others not so much.
The rotor tips were particularly disappointing. In addition, the kit made no allowances for the new wider chord rotor blades, so they would have been incorrect in any case. I think with the right references a semi-skilled modeler could make most of the corrections, particularly if you bogart some parts from Kitty Hawk kits. Word on the street is an M model may be on the way. You’ve waited this long…

You would probably be better off getting the new Academy UH-60M and scratching the MH-specific parts. Academy has also released images of a sprue that looks to be for an MH-60M as well, but nothing more on it. Check them out here:
Welcome aboard Eric.
Thank you! Great to join this community! I have long stalked many of the forums getting tips but great to contribute. Thanks for the info! An M model from Kitty Hawk would be really great. I just ordered the Academy UH60M, which should be me much closer with the upturned exhausts and nice looking rotor tips. It looks like they have parts for the M as Heavy Arty mentioned below, but at first glance they look maybe like they were form the older Academy L model. Not sure but will find out soon when this arrives. As you know, the M has that unique radar and the cool bumps and sensors. The Corbra Company nose piece appears to do a nice job with that. The nose cone would be outside of my scratch built talents…but who knows.
Cheers!

Thanks for the advice…just ordered the new UH60M! Looks like that kit will get me pretty far, especially with the upturned exhausts and the new rotor tips. I tried to look closer at the M parts on a you tube unboxing video, they may me an M, or an old L version from previous Academy sets with the big nose radar. I think you took the attached photos above? I haven’t seen a kit yet with the combined radar/flir housing and the accurate sensors like the Cobra Company kit has done. I certainly could give scratch build a shot! but may be outside my talents. I’ll see what this Academy kit holds! Thank you.
Thank you!
