1916 campaign

Thanks Tamas. The seat does look good especially after a wash.

The nacelle is under some serious clamp pressure to bring it all together.

Meanwhile the little Gnome engine is complete,

That picture doesn’t show the colour variation so much on the cylinder heads. A better view from the back

The cylinder heads are Tamiya Steel while the crankcase(?) is Alclad Chrome. I painted the upper part of the cylinders transparent yellow while the lower half is transparent blue. Mig Engine oil is put around the springs and tones down the chrome. The spark plug wiring is .001” EZ line. Will install it once the nacelle is out of clamps and painted.

cheers Michael

This really looks great and you are making rapid progress too!

Thanks Paul. It is a low parts count for the kit, maybe less than 15 for the entire nacelle. I guess that reflects the construction of the day. Progress will be slow as I am traveling for a couple of weeks.

Cheers Michael

Hi All,

I have completed the chassis of the Austin kit. It looks great and to be honest I fell in love with this small vehicle (although I am a modern tank builder chasing Leopard 2A4, M1A2 and Merkava MkIV and so… But this armored car looks great. Has certain style and beauty.

One interesting thing I learnt from a fellow modeler here: the leather seat looks better when glazed with darkish red just as it is done here.

Added weathering to the compartments as it would be impossible with the hull added.

Weathering done on the bottom, too.

I gonna report when the hull will be added on top of the chassis.

That running chassis looks great, even if it’s a bit too al fresco for my liking in combat!

The concept is that this particular vehicle will stand on the Red Square in Moscow, surrounded with civilian people in April 1917, so it will be a bit dirty but not yet destroyed and mild weathered. Actually the fenders are waiting for the hull to receive the complete weathering.

If I can get a 1/35 Lenin figure, he will be added, too

I do hope somebody does Lenin as that would look so cool…

Tried to find one but could not. Even a downable 3D file

Is it possible to modify existing figs? Plenty of “pointing officers” out there, and bald Hornet heads…

That is plan B. I will also need some Miniart civilian figures (some of the passengers, villagers and workers sets look ok). It will be a fortune to add 6-10 people. Will need at least two soldiers as the side and back doors are open.

Was a bit unconsoius when planned the dio…

And just checked the details: the event happened in St Petersburg, not Moscow.

At least no need to build the Kremlin wall as background.

Well, Verlinden had a statue and I found this one on Scalemates:

I did find other figures, but they are too large…

That fig would look cool on that AC!
