The De Lorean doesn’t have to qualify. I was just calling out a kit that has 1/24 scale railroad bed for @JPTRR. “specifically rail inspection cars” has my interest just the same. There are plenty of subjects in that realm alone for anyone to build something.
Not as interesting as some of the old pics here, but I took this while flagging for tree trimming contractors on the Mainline out on eastern Long Island near Riverhead station, the pick up is a Ford.
That’s how all of them are that I have seen. I still want to do one with some old Union Pacific decals I have from my loco lettering days.
And that movie is on my list.
So does this one, a boom truck being used by the Electric Traction ( third rail) department of the LIRR. St. Albans station, Queens, NY.
This station as well as 4 or 5 others are having elevators installed to be in compliance with the MTA’s ADA requirements.
It’s changed tremendously since then in so many ways. I hired on in’96 and marveled at some of the old equipment that was still running. Wish I took more pictures……
I grew up on the Montauk branch in a house that backed onto the track, but didn’t “discover” trains until I was a teenager. GP38-2s and reworked cab units were the norm back then, and I snapped them on wet film, but most were gone by the time I transitioned to digital. Oh well, at least the internet is full of scanned pics!
Not a rail inspection car but a resourceful Shunter / Switcher / Critter that I’m sure we all have the base kit in the stash in either 1/35 or 1/24 or both
No problem. Yeah really cool. When I’m not in here, I’m often browsing around in the FB groups and pages of specific interests. I don’t understand the hate for FB. Perhaps they are viewing and interacting in the wrong realms. Anyway, as long as the image(s) postings are set to “Public” (the little globe setting), I can share it and I always include the original poster and/or photographer.
No worries, Fred. After all, you have had a couple of million other things occupying your time. To be honest, I had all but forgotten about making this an actual campaign. I guess I will leave it up to everyone else as to whether they would like to have a campaign or not.
Just some ideas for guidelines. Please feel free to throw out your suggestions as well.
Build your own custom rail inspection vehicle.
Any skill level.
Any scale.
Any country.
Any vehicle.
Model an actual vehicle or create one of your own design.
Doesn’t have to be showroom fresh. I’m thinking rat rod on rails.
Civilian or military.
Any era.
Any paint scheme.
Real railroad line or one you make up.
Extra coolness points awarded to anyone that makes an actual working one for their model railroad set up.
It could run for a year or longer. Whatever everyone else thinks. I know that everyone has real world interruptions constantly taking place so I am thinking “complete it at your leisure” would be a good idea so that no one feels rushed.
