Guys, i was able to get a landing craft 3D printed, not a seibel ferry but a landingboot-pioneer 41. A bit late for sea lion but still made with the intent to conduct the landing if the war ever changed.

@jpwaller
Edit: trying this again

What scale was that printed at?

That’s really cool, is that Kubelwagen size or Panzer IV size?

Pionier-Landungsboot 41 (PiLB41) was a WWII German landing craft used from 1942 till the end of the war. Capacity 40 tonnes or 150 troops.
Not sure if the Pz IV or III fits through the gate but weight capacity should be sufficient.
The abbreviation PiLaBo or Pilabo is also used on the internet.
Pilabo (bo means live, nest or homestead) is also a place in Sweden so image searches for Pilabo will turn up unexpected images

Edit:
Fits sizewise but two at the time is probably too heavy

Edit:
Late versions of the Pz IV weighed in at 25 tonnes so two of those would be 10 tonnes over the max limit. The JagdPz IV was at 25.8 tonnes. The pictured load is way too heavy.
Early versions (thinner armour) of the Pz IV weighed in at 18 tonnes, two of those would fit.
The Pz IV D was the first to hit 20 tonnes combat loaded, Ausf A through D would be OK for a double load, 2 x Pz IV C maybe.

@jpwaller its 1/35 from what i can tell. The front of the landing craft where the ramp meets the hull needs to be sanded as there’s excess. I believe it would fit an armored car or a Pz 38t.

@SSGToms i wasn’t aware that there was a kubelwagen size or a panzer IV size variant.

@Uncle-Heavy this one may be to narrow for a panzer IV but i may be wrong: i have one in a box somewhere. I did put my Hungarian nimrod in it and it fit.

I may use this one with just light infantry crammed in. Give the illusion of either a training exercise or the real deal. I also have an LWS to accompany it for the build too.

Reached out to modellbau about the 39 variant kit and he said it would be back in the winter he hopes.

If it is a Pilb 41 it can cram in 150 infantry but that may require adjusting the poses of the soldiers, think “standing at attention” sniffing the neck hairs of the guy in front.
God help the guy standing in front of someone getting seasick … ’

Edit: I wonder if the Google Ad AI has an evil streak. A few seconds after I wrote about seasick I got this smiling (more like a grin) face in an ad for project manager education/training.

@Uncle-Heavy i agree, realistically i could maybe get 50 in the thing at attention. I’m pondering if i want to do a loading/ unloading diorama.
Or do a force perspective by getting another boat, having one that’s completely built then the other one be in the two prices it arrives in. I could do one fully kitted out with infantry and another with a tank in it and a final piece with more figures or a halftrack. Then have the LWS be in it acting as an additional tug.

That’s biting off A LOT.

@SSGToms itd be a hot minute to build and paint. Would be fun, just need to figure out widths of vehicles to depict. I already have the lws and one landing craft. Was talking with the modell bau people and they may have the other landing craft ins tock by winter. I’m just entertaining some ideas right now. My original course of action was just doing one landing craft with the lws doing a load up.

This seems to be a smaller Pionierlandungsboot (40??)

Edit: I think I saw a kit of a Pionierlandungsboot 39 while I was looking for the larger 41.
The size difference between a 39 and 41 might add some visual interest since the 40 is rather similar to the 41.

A common load for landing craft is trucks, a half track and 88 with a couple of Opel Blitzes and a Kubelwagen could be a good load.
