And whatever this handle looking thing is on OG M2 Bradley or M2A1 variant side skirt:
It is a step for the driver to climb up/into his hatch.
Could have used them, a lot, a few years ago!
However, I didn’t know how to CAD or 3D print back then. The technology wasn’t that readily available either.
Something with FDM. Pirate Robodatchi - bringing back my childhood memories from 1980s…
Here’s the actual kit photo for inspiration:
Prints from last night.
Printing the tow rings, eyes, etc. vertically minimized the visible print lines. Hard to see them at x5 zoom:
M2/M2A1/M3 Bradley rear vision blocks (replacements for Academy/Tamiya kits) and side skirt “steps”
Trying to replicate this strap set up for WW2 M4A3 Sherman tools. These organic shapes are stinking hard for me…
Obviously, a lot of the details will not show up in 1/35 and I need to balance between the 3D printability and realism…
This makes me think of your efforts on the printing for the jerry cans. The depth and letter sized was slightly over scale but the effect looks great!
Working on T-34 tank replacement parts now. T-34/76 gun barrel in 1/35 based on Dragon’s Mod. 1943 kit measurements. Working on the engine grill/hood and external fuel tanks also.

I saw in MikeyBugs’ thread: MikeyBugs 3D Design and Printing Ideas - #743 by Arch-Stanton discussions for the US vehicle bridge plate and found that Sabre’s 1/35 JLTV kit comes with one
- but I wanted to make a more accurate version of it and also print it for my personal uses so here’s my version.
I CADded 4 of them - 2 in 1/16 scale and 2 in 1/35 scale. I embossed a letter C and numbers for the heck of it on two of the plates.

I hate you, LOL! I just finished screwing around with this after 5-6 attempts.
Put me down for a dozen tor so in 1/35……
I’ll message you.
Another one for truckers. DOT Hazmat placard holders (a.k.a. UN DG placards outside of the US).
Plan to make available 1/35, 1/16, and 1/24 scale files.

Some 3D prints over the weekend:
Bridge weight plates
This thing was hard to take a photo of due to small size…
Home Depot style 5 gallon buckets and plastic crates
Those look nice. Same with the 5 gal buckets. What motor pool doesn’t have a couple “Homer Buckets” lying around to soak parts in degreaser?
For those outside of the states; “Homer Buckets” is a nickname for the paint buckets from the mascot of “Home Depot”, Homer.
All excellent work, love the detail. Definitely interest here in buying things (files?). Just starting to get into 3D printing. It is the future. So many things I’ve scratchbuilt (and struggled with) can now be “whipped up” in Blender/Your Software of Choice and printed! An amazing tool. Now to get at least half as skilled as a brain damaged monkey on the software…
Great to see the successes. Some things I wondered how they’d print, but you have done amazing in both design and execution.
