3D prints and CADs Part 2 - by petition2God

Made a new 5 gallon Gatorade-look-alike cooler for the modern US vehicles in 1/35. Wasn’t too happy with my previous design. I feel like it’s a must have for an Abrams. Gotta quench some GI thirst.

Very nicely done. Love the spigot and logo. Getting thirsty…

I know little or nothing about 3D printing but I wonder if antennae top caps could be printed in 1/35?

Very few a/m antennas come with the top cap (I found one type for my M577) People on here have made them from dried-out White Glue, as I tried to yesterday, but opinions vary on how well this works. If an enterprising Printer could make these, needing a small indent (or better a hole) in the underside I would buy about 100 of them to retrofit my fleet and more for future builds.

I feel sure others would too.

Is this practical and if so is there any interest in taking it on ??

Hi Dennis,
That’s super easy to do. Would take 5-10 mins to CAD them. Do you have its dimensions in metric by chance?

Kind regards,
James

Tiny. They are only about as long as a thumb.

I measured a Leopard Workshop ball and it’s 1.83mm tall and 1mm wide at its widest point. Gino’s pic shows the profile better than my pic.

OK, that’s helpful. Let me cook up something in an hour or two, and I’ll put up some CAD screenshots later.

What do you think? Not sure that small hole is going to help much b/c it’s like 0.12 mm.

Love it. Looks like the inward curve starts earlir/higher than Ginos pic, but you probably wouldn’t see it in 1/35. Also, a small recess rather than a tube; would this allow for a slightly larger diameter “hole”, like 0.65mm“?

Not sure if that’s going to make a difference because the surrounding wall is at the thinnest and it’s pushing my 3D printer’s limit - anything below 0.1mm wall is risky for print fail, and right now, it’s at 0.09mm thick…
Also, I expanded the diameter by 0.15 mm more to resemble what Gino showed above.
So it’s like 1.83mm long and 1.2mm wide at its widest part.

Understood. It looks great. I’ll be a customer for sure.

Cool. PM me for more discussion. I’d think you could use these also, and we can discuss consolidating all the prints into one shipment.

60 antenna caps and 15 bridge plates on order. Great job James.

This is what it’s all about! Love to see Petition2God’s great work, and custom whipping up a request, and the request result acted on. Great stuff!

Made a few changes to my 1/35 37mm M6 gun CAD to fit Tamiya M3 Stuart (#35360), AFV Club M5 Stuart kits, and Tamiya M8 Greyhound (#35228). I suppose you could use either version to replace the Academy M3A1 parts with some modification also.

To fit Tamiya M3 Stuart #35360:

You’ve even got that hint of a flare at the muzzle. Excellent. Great to have the reference photos, too.

I’m starting a USS Constitution and want to make my own 3D guns (I’m going to light them if I can make that work). I don’t know how I’ll go with the conical barrels and reinforcing rings, but there’s always version 10,001!

Let’s see if I can make more than $2 for selling the STLs…

Ha! I’m sure you can. With no advertising or plan, you’re already probably making tens of dollars!

Seriously, make the files, and they will come…

See, a potential customer already! Gentleman looking for an ammo thing:
