3D prints and CADs Part 2 - by petition2God

Nah, Wink. I’m afraid that it’s not how it works. For all the things I made in the last 2 weeks, I sold stinking one - after Cults3D commission of 20%, that’s 80 cents.
Definitely didn’t make tens of USD these past 2 weeks selling STLs.

Granted that it was not for the money but it has never been ‘if you build it, they’ll come.’ Out of 100+ STL files I have on Cults3D, about 25% of them never have been sold. And a vast majority of the files only got sold once.

I have no idea what Erwin is looking for, and from the description of it, it sounds like WWII German, which I don’t do, and a single photo is not going to be enough data to sketch. I’ll probably pass to use my time for something else.

Yeah, all the online sale places (t-shirts, files, etc.) all charge a lot for their “services.” instead of a small commission. Sometimes kind of ridiculous, it has to be fair to all.

Well, you do great work, I hope you keep it up. I’m sure, someone will want some files in the future, so you might as well have the chance to make money at least. 3D printing is going to change things.

nice work Im looking to have something done for my upand coming M1A2K kuwaiti Abrams if i gave you the approx dimensions and images would you be able to do it?

Depends on the complexity. You may PM me the photos and specs first then I can decide.

Actually the ones I want are WW1, but does it matter if they are German? They are the baskets in which the grenades are being transported. Simple tubular wicker constructions with a lid.
1000008007
22 mm long, 7 mm diameter.
20 radial strands.

pm sent to our pm regard the tracks

Okay James now I am confused as I have been looking for your Gatorade cooler on Cults3D for a week or so without success? I still do not see the antenna topper today. I wonder if there is a disconnect between what you see on the Cults3D site and what your customers have access to see? Perhaps the Cults3D website is too difficult for old men like me to use? Please PM me about the Antenna topper and the cooler. The PayPal is hot - Thanks- Stuart

Hi Stuart,
The Cults3D site hasn’t been working properly for the past two weeks, and that may be the main reason. :frowning: That site is down 30% of time…
I’ll Pm you about those files. Thanks for letting me know.

Kind regards,
James

Nice. You could go a bit further and make some for both WW2 era 88mm Flak36.

Somewhere in that huge pile, there’s a couple of these wicker baskets, along with the single shell basked you CAD’d.

Luftwaffe flak crew setting up their Flak 36 gun, you can see the wicker shell containers to the right.

Fellow Armoramans,
Would you buy this type of photo-etch and wire bending tool if I 3D print it (in FDM not resin)?

Most of you probably already have a PE bending tool. Obviously, this one would be much cheaper than the metal kind.

I would. :+1:

I know PE is rather soft an weak by comparison, especially if annealed, but resin - as wonderful as it is - is very brittle. I use Eco Resin, which for small parts is a bit bendy, but it still snaps. Are you concerned about snapping?

Fantastic. I’m quite a noob to 3D, and barely manage the simplest things, but I image woven/wicker is quite “fun”! Very well done.

I wouldn’t say “concerned”, and that wasn’t the reason for using the FDM 3D printer, instead of MSLA. FDM printer is so much better for tools like that, no mess, and less clean-up afterward. Of course, the PLA or ABS plastic works much better than UV sensitive resin b/c of their strength and flexibility.

The wicker design wasn’t too bad - just lot of repeating patterns and copy and paste. Time-consuming but once you have the basic shaped plate

simply stack them up.

Ahh, I read your post super quick and thought you said “in resin.” I see the FDM, now. Makes sense. I’m an IDIOT!

I like the turn and stack! Looks fantastic.
