I’m a 60 year old newly retired software developer who modelled in the 70s and 80s mostly on Tamiya and Italieri. I even went so far as to submit an offering to the ‘old’ Model Engineer Exhibition at Wembley, I guess in the late 70s.
Anyhow, programming became my thing and continues to be my thing but WW1/2 AFV dioramas will always have a place in my heart that programming can never replace.
So, to avoid too much gushing, I just wanted to thank you all for the time you take to share your creations amid this wonderfully encouraging community.
As I grow in confidence you will see me comment more but only on subjects I have followed since my teens and hopefully without implying any specific expertise.
And If I’ve embarrassed myself because “men don’t talk about stuff like this” then good!

Welcome back to the addiction! I, too, am recently retired and have found that I am producing my best work. Invest in a good, lighted opti-visor. It is a major game changer. Also a good air brush and compressor. I cannot recommend the Harder and Steenbeck Ultra air brush highly enough and a tank compressor. The Ultra actually teaches you how to air brush and can be upgraded. Their customer service is without equal. Happy modeling……
