My dad use to tell me stories about Graf, Wildflicken and Honefelds
I was a Field Station weinie in West Germany and my MOS was so rare that I never, ever went to the field. Somehow, I don’t think Wildflecken and Hohenfels were experiences I should miss not having. Pretty sure there are guys who still have dried mud in their gear and pores to this day.
ASA? The ASA females at Ft. Devens were told to stay away from us SF guys because what they knew was so sensitive that we’d kill them if the Soviets ever attacked. Of course they ignored this sage advice.
No, I was INSCUM, but only barely. My barracks (a WWII Heer hospital) still had the ASA Screaming Chicken at the entrance.
Beautiful work Carlos. Love that track! What paint did you finish her in?
Thanks Den. I used a dark brown primer, then the base color is Polly Scale CARC Sand.
Ok, I’m calling this one done. I still need to finish up the crew figures, but the track itself is done
I’ll get some full multi angle views up in a day or two
Another good looking build, congrats.
Looks awesome. The dusty weathering is perfect.
Thank again guys! I gave this thing a pretty decent dust coat, but the color blended pretty well with the sand camo. I suppose that’s what is supposed to happen…
It looks very good. Congratulations with a sweet build.
Outstanding build Stik, finish is beautifully done as are all elements. Can I ask you where you got the tied down antennas?
Out-freakin-standing build Carlos! This thing is a beauty. You and I know what an M901 ITV is supposed to look like, and this is the next best thing. Finely built and beautifully painted. The weathering is phenomenal, looking like the “Big Beach” all the way. The stowage is excellent and abundant - those guys are going to live in “luxury”. I love the scratchbuilt antenna guards.
@Erik67, @metalhead85, @SSGToms,
Thanks guys!
Richard, the antennas are from a company out of China I found on eBay, Orangehobby… or is it Orange Hobby? But they make brass antennas of the proper size and taper, complete with the spring bases. I just bent the forward ones in the right area, then added some thread tie downs.
Matthew, yeah I just did what I knew from 901s onto this for stowage, plus adding what I saw from the few photos I could find online of the FISTV. The antenna mount guards are thanks to Gino for his guidance in that area. Thanks goodness for new xacto blades
