On 8 and 9 November 2025 the ACT (region where Australia’s capital Canberra is located. No the capital isn’t Sydney) Scale Modellers Society (ACTSMS) is holding its annual model show in Canberra. I posted photos last year after attending with @Dioramartin and we were impressed with the size of the show and quality of the work on display.
This year may be bigger as the organisers have attracted some well known modellers for workshops and presentations. Scheduled to be in attendance are David Hay (figure sculpting), Greg Lester (model ship builder), Lincoln Wright (Sci-fi and anime models), Ruben Gonzales (diorama builder from AKInteractive) and Calvin Tan (doing a figure painting workshop).
So if you’re in the area this coming weekend, I recommend dropping by. @Dioramartin and I are going again and would be happy to meet any forum members who may be able to get here.
What he said – but if any of you dare to get there ahead of us in the queue before it opens, in order to snatch rare bargains from the retail section, we will hunt you down and…well, Sam’s packing heat. It’s a soldering iron.
You’d be most welcome - no time to lose mate, the exchange rate’s massively in your favour for reasons that pass understanding. Fuel’s half the UK price, so suggest hiring a campervan to save a lot on motels for the best experience – we even drive on the correct side of the road. The flight’s only 22 hours or so depending on stopover so you could be here tomorrow. (Hey I’m a pom too, this wasn’t a message from the Oz Tourist Board)
