I know they’ve become rare. I spotted them accidentally and bought a bunch of them.
I was facinated by their use along the Normandy operations and kicked the project off.
Certainly an option, I have some HobbyBoss Jimmys, where the screen ‘almost’ fits, the ‘V’ angle is too acute for the Master Production tin tops
I have considered using UV resin as a fixer, but your idea is better, (I have 2 Master Productions Chevvys)
Shout to Mike @165thspc for sending me some spare parts for my build.
I did also receive some time ago my 3d printed parts.
Hi Ryan,
With the resin parts, did they come covered in little supports to remove? I haven’t actually ordered any of my own products from 3dptrain so I’m not sure what tech they use…
Yes, they came with the little supports removed. I have done nothing with the parts after removing from the package.
I asked because I’m looking at uploading another design from my old catalogue that a friend looked over - it wouldn’t print as-is but he was able to rearrange the parts and add the supports through his software, so I am approaching them to see if they take pre-supported models. Life’s a learning curve…
Yes, you have now measured the diameter of the two different tires: Tamiya and Italeri, but which is the most scale correct???
I suspect the Tamiya.
The real 7.50-20 tyres had a nominal “new” diameter of 36.25 inches IIRC. The Tamiya and Hobbyboss wheels scale out correct, but the Italeri ones are only 34.5 inches, or roughly 1mm smaller in 1:35. A similar issue afflicts the Italeri DUKW wheels. I suspect they made the mistake of measuring a “preserved” truck with modern tyres that have a different profile and outer diameter.
