All good things must come to an end, and I am running out of my Testors Model Master Aluminum (1781) & Steel (1780) paint. So, I am looking for suitable replacements. What are people using for aluminum & steel? I will be using this a brush paint.

I’m using the square bottles of Testors enamel with some success - mixing it with white for faded aluminum, various (tiny) amounts of black and blue for other metal.
I remember as an eight year old kid, I built an Aurora(?) WWI biplane - the kind with the clear triangular base - and it called for copper, which I didn’t have. I made a beautiful copper out of red and silver.
I didn’t realize that Testors sold aluminum in the little square bottles. Their silver is pretty good, and I remember using their steel when I was painting D&D figures back in the 1980s. Kind of figured they stopped selling it that way when they introduced Model Master.

Didn’t even know AK made marker pens. I knew about Posca & Molotow, but not AK.

They come in small sets,individually,or the whole line. This is just one place,but they are all over the net.
Apologies for the confusion. It’s the silver I’m using. I make aluminum using it. The silver from the bottle is a great color. The only drawback is that when using it I have to let it cure for at least a week. It stays tacky long after other Testors colors are fully cured.
@18bravo Ah, that makes more sense. I have found the Testors Silver to take a while to completely dry as well.

I’m not familiar with that dealer,I just wanted to show you the product,you could probably get it from suppliers that you may be more familiar with.
Testors still makes Flat Aluminum (1181) and Flat Steel (1180) in the 1/4 oz bottles, along with their classic gloss Metallic Silver (1146) or Chrome Silver as it was called ages ago. ScaleHobbyist has them for $3.09/bottle.
Note the item numbers: MM was 1781, T is 1181; MM was 1780, T is 1180. Most likely the exact same paint.

Not a bad price for the set. You can also purchase individual pens.
I really like AK RC markers for small areas, dry fast and finish is nice. I use also Vallejo Metal color (30ml bottles) for brush painting, the best acrylic metal imho, very good with both brush and airbrush.
