After a few too many long drives the past few weeks, I am still up in the air if I want to make the trek to the AMPS Nationals this upcoming weekend in South Bend. I may just wait til the IPMS Nationals in Fort Wayne in August. I have never been to either show.
Any comments on which is the better show, if any? Same vendors/# of models to see/Size?
Appreciate the input……
Thx in advance!

I believe AMPS shows are armor of all eras, while an IPMS show features models of all genres. So it depends on what types you want to see.

Kind of an apples and oranges comparison. If you are an armor modeler, you’ll really enjoy the AMPS show more. If you do other models, however, go to the IPMS show. AMPS has about 500 models in the contest, IPMS about 3000. Same for the vendor room. AMPS is smaller but armor-specific. If you’re a treadhead, the place to be is AMPS. It’s a full immersion weekend.

I agree. If you want to compete and/or improve your modeling, you will get better feed back with AMPS than IPMS. Not a knock on IPMS it’s just set up different.

Both are good. If you’ve never been to an IPMS Nationals, you really need to make the effort to go;you won’t regret it.
