I had the half-a-link issue with the ESCI M60 I built 30 years ago.
I ended up using one of the “spare” links that don’t have any rubber pads.
I had to “scratch” build the rubber blocks.
I suspect the suspension sits too high
Yes i think you are spot on.Maybe i will try and shorten the dampers etc and see how things go.I did have some Bronco m60 track links and my word they really do test patience.Cleaned loads up but finally gave in.
All the best from Richard
I bought a whole carton of them to replace the rubber tracks on Revells & Dragons M48s and M60s and variants.
Who needs a Buddhist retreat when one can say OOM and clean off one tiny injection nub after another, rinse & repeat until total peace and oneness with the universe has been achieved.
Ooommmmmmmm …
Takoms track set has the same part breakdown but the sprue layout is different,
it could be an attempt at making assembly easier …
Robert: No, nyet, non, not even, eff no.
Bwahaha!
As soon as it’s below 95 degrees or so I’m priming, but it’s too hot still.
Paint! We got a cold front, temp’s below 90 so I used Tamiya primer (gray in the can) and 24 hours later my last can of ModelMaster “modern desert tan”. Erk, the MM tan can wasn’t full, or I’d lost propellant after several years of storage, so in order to finish (after another 24 hours of curing) I did the final covering with a Vallejo fantasy color, “bone white” from the spray can too. It is an almost EXACT match for the MM tan. That’s curing now, pic below.

Stowage bits are all primed, tracks painted and washed, with every sixth link bobbed (thank you Robert), so while the paint is curing, I pulled out a toy tank to work at:

I’ll throw a pic up on this thread now and then as I progress, but it’s OOB and a diversion. It took about four hours to get this far:

Thinking about shading and such, I very lightly sprayed the running gear and lower hull on the Sho’t with Tamiya TS-46 sand, the color I normally use on IDF armor of this time period, and I think it may work.

Goes on to put Friuls…
Okay, I see your point, but a guy at a show had two sets of the Friuls. I couldn’t help myself, really.
“toy tank”!
OOB-nothing added! Like getting your girlfriend “kind of” pregnant.
Looking good.
I’ve had that happen. I made damn sure all the pressure was out and then stabbed the can, a la Forged in Fire, and cut it open so I could get the last of the paint out. It’s truly astounding how much paint gets left behind. My Camillus still bears the scars.
How about shooting the can?
This sounds like a win-win situation.
Shooting the can requires a pressurised can for maximum entertainment value. I may have done it once or twice.
Good point
And it’s a sure fire way to register a hit. Forty years ago mostly empty cans of R12 made pretty good targets too.
Or so I’m told.
Do you intend to depict an IDF AMX 13?
If so you have some extra job to do. If not your choice of Friul tracks isn’t the best one. Tamiya’s AMX 13 depicts a late period one and it should have the rubber padded tracks like those in the box.
Olivier
It will be IDF. I know I have to change the antenna bases to US-style, and I seem to remember a “tweaks list” for a couple of other items I’ll need to change.
I’m eager to see you build this one.
I built a Takom IDF AMX 13 myself and you can use it as a tweak list as most of the mistakes are common to the both kits.
Feel free to have a look at my site for more!
I also had shared the wip story with the forum along with 2 other variants.
Olivier
Olivier, great work thereon the '13s, lots of food stuff. I made the turret riser straight away.
On the Sho’t, I have the wash on, details starting to pop.
I have a question pertaining to stowage: I have yet to find a pic of a YKW-period Sho’t carrying the large wound-up tarp or camo net bag, so I’m thinking it’s a later item. It’s the bag pointed at in the pic, usually shown on top of the left-side turret bins.
If it’s time-appropriate I’d like to use it. If not, no biggie.
TIA.
