And now for something completely different, or what I've been doing instead of model building

Beautiful work!!! Light years above the stuff we used to see on Orange County Choppers.

I like the furniture too!

My other hobbies include mountain biking, reading and this beast:

1995 Nissan Skyline GTR that I’ve built up to 440awhp. I like to sacrifice my tires at the tracking autcrossing and lapping.

Colin, you’d be insanely popular with that car at the hobby store I work at. Please come to Oshawa and bless us with that JDM magic.

Lol, don’t think my back would be up to the road trip from Alberta, car rides pretty stiff!

Still scale modelling to a degree but 1:1.

My 1945 ww2 US jerry can. Still has the original paint on the underside, almost tempted to leave it there but has light rusting and would rather protect it.

I picked up my bass guitars again after really a 20 year break. I noodled around here and there , but i have learned more in 10 months then in the 8 years when i was practicing and gigging.

I also picked up a new 4 string and amp head, just no pictures on this device.

I am metal detecting. Searching the forests of Northern Norway for leftovers from ww2. I am also part of a group that search and recover fallen and missing soldiers from ww1 and ww2 in Latvia.

A very easy project. Ive had this jerry can for approx 15 years. I bought it when i was 16 with money from aluminum cans and scrap metal. The previous post was after it was sanded with a wire wheel on my angle grinder and the hit with some etch primer.

I painted it with the olive drab paint today thanks to having some fine weather. Probably one of the easiest kits ive painted haha.

To put some lifeback into this thread: besides modelling I am also a gamer on PC. SHMBO was so kind to allow me to buy me a new rig, and I went (almost) full power!
A new 34" Alienware QLED screen, A bequiet! case, 1200W powersupply, CPU cooler and a total of 7 case fans. MSI Z790 Carbon main board, Core i7 13th gen CPU, 64 GB of DDR5 RAM, 2TB M.2, 4TB HDD, and a AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX videocard. Also a new in height adjustable desk and a Paracon gaming chair. The latter 2 mainly to ease up on my shoulder, which developped a injury because I have been sitting in a wrong position the last few years…

Looks Matrix worthy :sunglasses:

LOL! Compared to some guys, I went relatively easy on the RGB. 2 LED strips came with the case, both RAM sticks are LED equipped and the letters on the GPU are lighting up… No LEDS in the fans or elswhere

After picking up the guitar again after 30 + years I resurrected my Guild D 35 ( pics in previous post in this thread.)
Treated myself to this a short while ago -

I bought a Yamaha acoustic and am trying to learn to play. At 65 there are some chords I can’t yet twist my fingers into.

Maybe you might like or remember his work. Rick Fairless had the show Texas Hardtails on Discovery. He used to let me shoot his bike with models I knew at his shop. One of his famous bikes.

I also have tinkered with a few bikes, but just bolt on stuff.

I have to ask - did you also get to tinker with the models ?

I’ve met Rick several times at the Progressive shows every year. Some of his bikes have been impressive, but honestly after the fifth one in hippy psychedelic paint I sort of lost interest.
And of course I had to make the obligatory trip to Strokers in Dallas. Honestly, the crack hoes on Harry Hines Blvd looked better than than the women in that place.
Not to sound sour grapes, he’s a very friendly guy. But that TV show with his mom - voof.

I’ve never been a chopper guy or a Harley guy - nothing against either of them and obviously many people enjoy them - to each their own. Paul Teutul Jr. married a girl local to me and has a summer home near by and has recently opened a store in town selling his branded merchandise. Very nice operation and he has several of his bike builds on display. I must say that while they are not my style, they exhibit beautiful workmanship - much better than earlier works from the TV show which I saw in person some years ago . He is also a very friendly and personable guy .

I think you are talking of this one.

And yes the show was horrible, scripted, and nothing like reality there. I only ride sports, motards, groms ,ruckus. the bottom ruck is one my old ruck’s running around the neighborhood build. Being goofy.

A 6120? About ten years ago, I a l m o s t bought one. I was shopping for a Gretsch Jet, but couldn’t find one anywhere. I played a 6120 out of curiousity, and almost feel in love, until I saw / played the White Falcon. Went back to the store a week later, after I’d collected my thoughts - really wanted a Jet - and bought an Explorer that someone had just brought in on a trade. (Funny thing is, I’m a die-hard Strat guy.) Ya, I know, but truth be told, it’s a real nice Explorer. Guitars… worse than hoarding model kits.
Play it in good health, my friend!
