Another Special Hobby 1/72 Bf-109E

Friends! Just in time for Christmas, the Evil Trio is finished!

We’ll do them in order… Let’s start with an E-1 from JG 27, a light weight variant with machine gun armament as opposed to the E-3 that had 20 mm cannon in the wings. They were manufactured in parallell so it is not that the E-3 is the successor to the E-1.

I like it a lot with that yellow nose!

And then there is the E-3 of Werner Mölders.

And finally we have Gerard Schöpfel’s E-4 from JG 26. This is the one that best represents my vision of a Battle of Britain 109 even if the E-1 above was actually shot down over England in September 1940!

Gerhard Schöpfel survived into our time, living until 2003 when he was 90.

Finally I realised that I have now actually built both the antagonists from the E-4 box art so let’s dust off my Arma Hobby Hurricane from a few years ago!

The difference in size is fascinating, especially the Hurricane’s wing is enormous compared to that of the 109.

As usual, they have now moved to the collection

Merry Christmas all!
