Auto-Skank-Matic - hang a string of lights fail

This is a figure build for the Your Figure Just Keeps Improving! 2024

The figure is a 3D print of Automatic Oi! from snodgrassart.

Rude Boy looks to be skankin’. Youtube ‘Ska Skank’ if unfamiliar.

I want the figure to look down at its left foot so we went into surgery.
Beware the GORE :hocho: :skull: :drop_of_blood:

I thought a “skank” was a somewhat ugly (or plain) woman trying, very unsuccessfully, with way too much makeup, to make herself look less unattractive! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Yeah maybe that too  or perhaps it’s the pronunciation

Sprue of the perfect diameter and bend for the replacement neck. Not the first time I’ve mashed up a military model with a science fiction model
I glued two together side by side because I thought it would look more interesting. Then shaved the mating surfaces to the top of the body and bottom of the head.

A trial fit looked like I just grabbed an extension cord. I didn’t like the look so maybe go back to just one curved sprue or a straight piece.

Cutting the head off at the neck presented an ugly stump mark that was very difficult to clean up without damaging other details around it. The solution was some resin bits I had in the spares box.

It reasonably maintains the original design and covers the stump.

The new neck will be a single straight piece of sprue. Appropriate size holes were drilled into the body and head so it will fit without glue to test and assess the final position.

Looks like I need to clean up the bottom and back of the head as well.

This figure is looking down at its left foot now. This will make better sense closer to the end of this story :open_book:

 Funny! Back in the 1980’s, I made a satirical ‘zine’ that was just folded 8.5 x 11 sheets with step by step ‘Skank Man’ illustrations on how to do it. :open_book:

Base coat on over primer. I may do the hairspray scrub technique. I don’t even know what color to paint this dude

I found an old coin counter that screws onto a jar. This provided a sort of space-age looking base. The back wall is made from an audio CD case with the string-of-lights battery box hot glued to the back.

Drilled a 1/8" hole through the wall this morning. This will allow the string of lights to pass through and then paint it like a power cord plugged into the wall.

The power supply harness was hot glued to the back of the wall. A hole was drilled into a piece of styrene to make an outlet wall plate so I can string the lights through it and glue it to the wall. Then a power plug was made from scrap sprue and installed to the wire to look like it is plugged in to the wall.
