Absolutely beautiful build, John. I think I have the decals in 1/72 for the bat nose art for this one. If I can dig it out, I will build it for this campaign.
Jesper, thank you so much! I have a soft spot for the B-25, as a youngin in 1984 I got the opportunity to help rebuild “Show me” (B-25J) at Smart Field. Fun times! By all means, build it. Granted 1/72 isn’t true scale, but with a B-25 it could be close enough!
I need to start on mine.
The first 5 months of this year has been awful from a model building perspective. I’m backed up, this one and the skis, skids, and floats I really want to get something done for.
First, awesome job with the B-25. Kenney’s “commerce destroyers” are definitely my favorite Mitchells.
Second, I have a very strong feeling the similarities between Monogram and A. M. B25 kits has to do with Mr Robert Johnson, many of whose Monogram history stories I have posted. Mr Johnson rose from draftsman into the upper ranks of Monogram, and then was involved in Accurate Miniatures. I wrote to him asking about any insight. Hope to hear from him soon. He’s very busy man so sometimes it’s going to take a while.
I need to start on my B-25 soon. Great campaign this is. Fred
I heard back from Mr johnson. He wrote:
“The Monogram B-25’s and the AccMin B-25’s were designed by the same fellow… similarities were driven more by the structure of the aircraft than anything else.”
what are the rules for this campaign? i can’t find anything.
Joe
Any version of the B-25 in any scale
My assumption is it basically follows the general rules of every other campaign, such as a start and a completion photo along with any updates if you want. Probably unstarted or less than 25% so for the kit itself.
@Bomber14 - what @brekinapez said. I didn’t put any rules down (sorry, my mistake) and now it doesn’t appear to allow me to edit it…
Still in too many campaigns to join.
I am in 3 now. Could be in a 4th…(unfinished business 2024)
I really need to get the Hasegawa B-25J I started last year finished up.
If it’s ok, could I enter with it?
Not much assembly done besides from the cockpit and the interior parts painted up.
Definitely! You’re in with it!
Cool, thanks.
I need to get this one finished up as it a birthday present last year from my better half.
I’ve got my eye on Hasegawa’s Ki-49 Donryu for this year’s and if she’s going to get me, I’d better get this one finished up!
Stephen, it is most important to keep the better half happy! Interior colors look good and correct for the J, also, nice job on replicating the wood. Best of luck. Too bad for me that no one makes the Ki-49 in true 1/48. Hope you get what you want for your birthday, so, finish up the J!
Thanks, I got the interior colours from one of my reference books. I think the Detail in Scale book. They all got boxed up when we had the work on the house a few months ago and I need to dig them all back out. I bought a couple of cheap Italeri’s too. Couple of gunships and a C I want to convert to a field modded 8 gun nose.
I’m surprised no one has yet done it in 1/48. Maybe ICM will follow the Sally kits with one in the near future. They seem to be delivering the goods when it comes to these forgotten bombers in both scales.
Did a little bit of work on the fuselage interior this afternoon. Gave it a wash with Games Workshop sepia and dry brush with aluminium. Probably won’t see much of it, but it helps give the impression of dirt and wear and tear. I imagine these things were operated in quite rough conditions in the South Pacific islands.
Plastic has been cut and glued on my B-25 from Matchbox.
Planning to build it in flying configuration with wheels up.
More to follow
It is beginning to look like a B-25 I have decided to do a dual build with my Mustang for the Mustang Campaign.
Both will be finished in markings for operation Thursday in Burma in 1944. This despite the five white lines on the fuselage will likely be super difficult to make look right.
I plan to make a double stand for them, but let’s see if I can manage that.
More to follow
This is going to look great in that scheme.
I’ve got Italeri’s gunships I might have a crack at once I’ve got a bit more of my Hasegawa J done.
