I enjoy reading the off topic stuff,I very rarely commented, but it’s fun reading stuff chuckling and shaking my head at some of the back and forth, but yeah, that guy spouted a lot of pure hate.

I don’t say this to take credit, but rather to let Charmin know who (other than himself) was the author of his downfall. I’m sure he still reads the forums, much as Gary O. did after he was “disappeared.”
I tired of watching Charmin insult people I like. The fact that Boots was leaving was the last straw. I let Jim know about this thread:
https://forums.kitmaker.net/t/trump-and-any-maga-memes/40829/334

Obviously I knew about it back then, but there’s this thing some of us know and understand called tactical patience.

I waited until the time was right, informed Jim (he had to look it up) and then informed a few folks via PM that I didn’t think Charmin would be around much longer. And so it came to pass.

Men who stare at goats indeed.

@Tojo72 i think that British humour doesn’t always translate to non english speaking people of the world and friendly banter can sometimes seem hostile.

Just takes some training …

Back in the days when I still used the subway/metro daily I considered
learning to read upside down so that I could hold my newspaper
upside down and read while waiting for someone to comment.
Nowadays almost nobody reads anything in the subway/metro anymore.
Tiktok and other mobile phone stuff has taken over ..

Jim also asked me about some stuff which I then used the site search engine (Google powered I presume) to locate

Not to mention that colloquial British English can be somewhat “colourful” or “spicey”

@18bravo yes remember receiving an PM from you and i cautioned the individual concerned about the dangers of abusing Americans on a site owned by American…there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

anyway I’m at work for another fun packed 15 hour shift…i watched “A Bridge to Far” the other night…maybe i can find “The Longest Day” on YouTube and watch it for free.

It was more about insulting a member of the XIX Mafia, of which I am also a member. And while that individual was content with placing Charmin on “ignore,” I felt it more fruitful to watch him dig farther. As for his comments to me, that stuff just rolls off of me. Especially from a guy who couldn’t carry my rucksack.

There’s some difference between robust humour and ad hominem slights…
Being an Aspie and lacking any effective filter between brain and mouth (or keyboard, but my slow typing can help there), I can inadvertently cross the line… I recall an occasion at work when I attended a committee-type meeting where one of the participants was a young, but quite senior, manager. He’d been kicked in the head playing rugby and a patch of his hair had been shaved around the stitched wound. On reflection, I probably should not have greeted him by saying “Eh Lad, that’s a funny place for a lobotomy scar…”

@MoramarthT aw hell you’re an amateur at putting your foot in it, some of you might remember BARV on the old site, he did amazing scratch building of military vehicles.
Well i bumped into his son at the Perth IPMS show in Scotland. I started the conversation: "

So were’s your dad, has the old codger run off to the bar?"
His son’s reponse: “er not likely, don’t you know he died a few months ago”

a year later at the show i bumped into BARV’s son again and started a conversation:

“so where’s your wife, at home with the kids or has she gone shopping with your wallet to stop you buying more models”

his response “er she died late last year from cancer, didn’t you know?”

strangely he still speaks to me after all that, do make damn sure i don’t ask about family members though.

so you see i have a freaking masters degree in foot in mouth skills.
