What could possibly go wrong?

Dress rehearsal folks; sadly, a few repeat offenders - clearly I hadn’t built as much as I’d thought:

Hopefully, the seething masses of modelling-punters won’t mind too much(!)

Not forgetting of course, Stonehenge Modellers’ prestigious prize:

If you desire this, then get building for 2026!

Have a great time in Belgium, Brian! I’ll be also on a model show in Basel/Switzerland that weekend.

Thanks Sean. All you have to do, is build an outstanding model, cross the Atlantic, turn up at Belgium next October, and we’ll think about it(!)

A comprehensive show report from my modelling friend Pete Smith, who maintains a Blog; see here:

Pete’s Model World : IPMS Belgium Plastic & Steel Show 11th 12th October

An extremely enjoyable show, and am so glad we went (we hadn’t been for around 3 years or so, for one reason or another), but well worth the effort.

My modelling morale is now off the scale, and I have no idea what to tackle next, but perhaps those projects that fell by the wayside for no discernible reason require a second look.

Regarding the effort to get there, for those in the UK it’s not that difficult, not least as the Channel Tunnel makes things relatively easy, but those further afield may wish to consider it; I would suggest that you won’t be disappointed, although I cannot guarantee that there will be a beer festival as well(!)

So who was the lucky recipient of your club prize ?

Wait, what? Model show AND beer festival? System overload!

I’m afraid to say Sean, that despite a very high standard of modelling, the main emphasis seemed to be on WW2 models (or even earlier); so amongst the “Post 1945” genre, whilst some were good, and even very good, there was nothing that stood out as it were. Of course, that makes us sound a little elitist, and we are more than aware of that particular pitfall, so we decided to wait until next year. A simple enough amendment to the trophy with a replacement name-plate.

Exactly Matthew, I mean, what’s not to like? Two days of modelling bliss and ditto re some very interesting beers. At one point, I found myself drinking wine, as it was of a lower strength than the beers!
