The British Army had that with the MAN trucks, only to be touched by MAN, unless at war.
Son was REME, they got very bored, phoning up to report truck not working.

This is why I have no faith whatsoever in the Ministry of Defence, or especially, those officers who serve there and go native (ie, metamorphose into the worst type of Civil Servant).

Now why does that sound familiar …?

Oh, yeah:

The book points out, that officers on appointment, don’t want to be there, and don’t see it as a career opportunity, just want to get back to HQs and Regiments.

That’s a good book. It’s got me pondering future builds.
Addendum: Often mentioned in most of the Challenger and Chieftain books I’ve covered myself up with lately has been the various options for replacing Challenger 1, a couple of interesting ones being the Vickers Mk 7/2, basically the Vickers Mk 7 turret on a Leo 2 hull. A few decent pics of that turret and I’m in business. Also mentioned is the Vickers Mk 7. Seems like a really good idea for a plastic kit, maybe from somebody like Amusing Hobby, methinks.

Question posed in Staging Area: would a Vickers Mk 7/2 work? I think I might be able to pull off a turret, and I have several different Leo 2 kits stashed…
