The lake has a surface area of about 65 square kilometres, but is mostly shallow and somewhat brackish. But we don’t know how much other stuff was dumped there which might clutter the returns from any survey.

That’s a good point.I hadn’t considered their being a lot of other metal dumped as well.Still it would seem likely to be on the edge of the lake and you’d think scrap dealers would be keen on recovering metal.
I cleaned up my bench last night so I could paint and did a wash, then cleaned up and highlighted. I think a whoopie light, dust and a number plate will finish it.
Primer is right up there with duct tape.
How are the DS tracks in your kit? Are they oily or have they crumbled yet?
Crew for the Badger…
Miniart suggests Khaki as correct colour for these guys, I somehow think that would be to green, think it should be more of a yellow-brown, any ideas/suggestions?
Always nice to see a model populated!
As for the ‘44 pat Tank Suit I’d go for something like khaki-drill (I use Humbrol 72) but an equivalent of that would be fine I should think:
Note that the collar is normal khaki cloth so would need to be painted accordingly.
All looking good Bert! Any plans for the vehicle colour?
Thanks for that colour suggestion, I see thre is indeed a difference between the collar and the rest ![]()
I am thinking of trying the block urban camouflage…
As an afterthought, if say, you wanted more contrast if you paint the vehicle a single colour, then there was a camouflaged version of the tank suit - all pinky browns with some green; probably a lot of work depending on how you feel about painting camouflage patterns on figures; it was widely used post war (as was the “normal” version of course):
I don’t mind doing a camouflage coloured figure..
But as I want to do that camouflage on the Badger I thought it would be a nice contrast to do this yellow/brown or khaki drill coloured crew…
I like those crew figs! And agree with the choice of plain rather than camo.
Well-worn ones at least are more like a pale tan, I say from examining a total sample size of one:
This one has a production date in the early 1950s, but I don’t remember the exact year. Anyway, Tamiya Buff always seems a good starting colour to me.
Still oily and flexible ![]()
‘Look good enough for me Bert (I’ve never managed eyeballs).
I am calling the Vickers Mk7/2 done. I jammed, got it finished and on a quickie base in time for CenTex AMPS and waltzed out with a silver for it. Good nuff.

I have to say, this was one of the more enjoyable builds I’ve done recently, discounting the fixes I had to do to the Italeri hull. Looking back I should of gone ahead and used the Meng kit I originally intended to use. On the flip side of that, I still have the very good Meng kit to build, and the bug to do more Leos.
