And ik makes me want to have this kit but it’s hard to find one…

Thanks Bert; it does seem to becoming difficult to find. I must admit I’ve greatly enjoyed scoping what was what in devising the Dutch version. It’s easy to get carried away with What-If projects, but I like to think I’ve just about got it right. If not, I’m sure I’ll be told very soon(!)
I think you nailed it.
Thanks Russel!
It’s apparently going to be re-released by something called “DRAMi”, which I assume to stand for DRAgon Models isomething.
Well, that’s good news then; I do have one in the stash awaiting completion as envisaged in German service, but nice to know it will - hopefully - still be available.
Dragon + Zimi = Drami
Good to know, will probably be anounced here on Armorama..
I can see me getting yet another one, though have no real reason; I’ve the Kpz earmarked for the Bundeswehr version What-If, and 2 x Commander MBT-70s in the stash. There’s obviously something addictive about the MBT-70!
You could have warned me about that ![]()

Haha! I think it goes back to my childhood: I remember watching footage of this on our creaky old black & white TV set. Of particular note was the suspension raising and lowering. It also appeared in my weekly comic, “Eagle for Boys” - just in case there was any doubt as to who the intended audience was(!)
It featured every week, a cutaway drawing, normally an aircraft or AFV or warship; it showed the amazing MBT-70 - albeit with a driver in the hull - but then, how would they know otherwise? This must have been around 1964/65 - I was hooked. It just seemed incredible. Mind you, to a 10 year-old boy, any AFV looks incredible.
Fast forward a million years, and at long last I’ve got one (two actually with my Dutch iteration) in model form. Yeehah!
Sorry, showing off a bit(!)
That certainly makes sense ![]()
Hi folks, now that we’ve reached the end I’ll draw up the final list and get it posted here for confirmation before sending it to Jim. If you didn’t make it to the finish line do not worry - BTTNW5 will be starting shortly and unfinished builds will be welcome there!
OK folks, the final list is:
barkingdigger
brekinapez
bwilt
Damraska
Dan
hudson29
petbat
rfbaer
SGTJKJ
Let me know if I’ve missed anyone! I’ll send it to Jim in a few days, along with the award png:
And I’ll set up BTTNW5 to start next month!
Not to quibble for the sake of it my any means, and I don’t mind that much, but I would say my MBT-70 warrants another assessment.
The build is complete; as a standalone model it’s finished. Painted and decaled. That it’s not on a base if neither here nor there I think. That it’s also destined for a larger dio/model is also irrelevant.
What criterion have I missed?
Fair enough Brian! But when I suggested it before you said no… ![]()
I’ll put you on the completed list!
Did I? Sorry about that; I mean, I’m not that bothered Tom, really, but thanks - gracious as ever. However, it’s been a fun ride, and I have certainly appreciated the interest along the way. I’m obviously biased, but I do like the mean, almost thuggish look of the thing.
Anyway, certainly this campaign got me rolling. All hail to Armorama!
I’m afraid I can feel another MBT-70 coming on…
I don’t know - you wait ages for an experimental tank and then two come along… ![]()
Glad you’ve enjoyed it! And you’re on the list! But I can’t wait to see what you do for BTTNW5…
Hah! So true Tom; for once, perversely I seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment, some projects more involved than others, but once I’ve got the Dutch version out of the way, then it follows that the German one must come next, in the MBT-70 genre that is. Luckily, I’ve one earmarked for just that; they seem to have become rare of late, though I was heartened to see that the new venture Drami(?) have included it amongst their catalogue.
