Please tell me what are the conditions for participation in the groupbuild? Are there any restrictions other than the subject matter? For example, am I required to complete the model during the groupbuild, or can I come with ready-made models?
I’m no expert but I think you need to start building the model or enter one that isn’t more than 20% complete.
Sounds like it makes sense. But it would be cool to hear the answer from the contest author)
Everything you need to know is listed at the top of every campaign thread.
Not to be rude, but I do not understand why people jump into a topic without looking at the initial posts to see what it is all about.
I read. I read specifically. I didn’t find anything about my question. Maybe I’m blind, I didn’t want to create too much fuss. Can you point me in the direction of the answer to my question in the first post, if it’s not big deal?
Try scrolling back to the very start of the thread.I was a bit confused myself when I first joined the site, but people very helpful.

Hi Slava, my bad for not making it clear that builds should be new (not started) and need to be completed by the end date. Exceptions are for anything started in the previous BTTNW campaigns, or if a build is mostly not finished, but for those I need to see a picture to decide if it is too far along. Usually the rule of thumb is no more than about 25% assembled. Anything you have already finished is not eligible, but we’d still like to see it!
P.S what is ’ Halzov’I know ‘Slava’ translates as Glory?
Yes, I saw this special scroll and scrolled to the very beginning) But there was no answer there. Thank you.
Oh, I think you thought this was my nickname, but it’s just my short name and last name) I’m Russian. Khalzov/Halzov is just a last name.
But Slava (that’s my short name) really means Glory. My full name is Vyacheslav, which means more glorious. But it’s too complicated for foreigners, so I use a short name)
Thank you for your interest, I was glad to tell you.
Thank you, now it’s clear. Although I suspected such an answer earlier)
I will publish works on this (my favorite topic) soon. Out of competition. Because they are ready)
It would be great to see you join in with a new build too, if you feel like participating. You will find that many of the modellers here really enjoy working together on a theme and getting worthwhile feedback, if it asked for, along the way.
Trumpeter E-10
All oil paining on the tracks, underside, and wheels is finally done. My procedure for effects painting changes with almost every model. For this one, I went back to a very old combination of oil paints utilizing more colors but almost completely leaving out Buff. On the downside, this technique is hard on brushes. A clear coat will reveal if it worked.
Despite numerous problems, I continued using a new method for detail painting, my weakest model building skill. It did not work, resulting in some very messy painting. As usual, I will need to hide all the errors under a layer of crud. Sometimes that works out for the best.
This is now very close to completion. I will give everything 4 days to dry, then clear coat and finish up.
Edit: Haha! My memory is completely shot. I just realized my original intention for this campaign was to build a Hobby Boss Super Pershing!
Welcome to the campaigns area!
The general procedure for group build campaigns is that all participants choose an unbuilt model, build it to completion before time runs out, post progress pictures along the way, and post a few pictures of the finished model. The hope is that a bunch of guys making progress building models will spur everyone else to do the same. In addition, members may offer information that helps with your project. This can be extremely useful.
Since the primary purpose of a group build is to help participants complete projects, it is common to allow started models into campaigns. This will vary from campaign to campaign but 20% completion is a common progress threshold.
You are correct to observe that the Best Tank that Never Was campaign guidelines do not specify the allowed completion level of a new entry. They do specify that models entered in a previous Best Tank that Never Was campaign may roll over into this one.
You are also correct to ask the campaign leader for clarification when a rule is ambiguous. That is always a best practice.
No campaign ever allows a completed model because that goes against the purpose of a group build–to spur participants to complete models.
Some group builds have very lenient entry guidelines, even allowing models at the 50% completion mark. The annual Hanger Queen and Unfinished Business campaigns allow practically anything that is not yet completed.
As a general rule, if you are a meticulous or slow builder, it is a good idea to enter a campaign early, long before the final deadline. This will prevent a situation where you expend much effort but fail to earn a campaign medal.
Some campaigns, like Best Tank that Never Was, roll over every year. This means that if you fail to complete a model before the deadline, you may automatically enter that model in the next iteration of the campaign, regardless of progress. This serves as a safety net for people who build at a slow pace or suffer real life problems.
The Hanger Queen and Unfinished Business campaigns are excellent ways to earn a campaign medal if you miss the deadline for another group build.
Finally, there is no penalty for failing to complete a campaign. Group builds are for fun.
If you decide to join this campaign or any other, good luck!
Holy Heck that was quick! Great job on that tank hunter - it looks truly menacing.
Congratulations Doug. She looks good.
Great build Doug. I like the hard edge camo - it looks outstanding.
