Bird-Dog Build

Could we just make this year-end for the finish? I’ve had no time, but really want to participate…

How far along are you? Is it too late to repaint the interior?

To be honest, it’s still at this stage. Have had a few busy weekends and what time I have had, has been spent on those subs in the Tamiya campaign.

Probably won’t get anything done for at least another week as we’re away in a few days.

That’s good news.

Cool. What you thinking, a grey for the inside?

Yes. I can get better photos tomorrow. Yesterday I was simply documenting our unloading procedure when I noticed the color discrepancy.

Brilliant! That will be a big help.

Hi Everyone,

Seems to be some discussion over the end date of the campaign. I’ll be staying with the original end date for personal scheduling, thus avoiding another Hangar Queen!

I decided to add some brake lines, so off to the internet to look at how they were laid out on the real plane.

First was to assemble the oleo scissors portion of the gear. this included adding some bare metal foil to mimic the oleo, though it’s a little difficult to see in the picture.

The solder was then glued at the wheel area and positioned as reference photos.

Next, the solder was attached up the gear strut shaped to fit per the reference photos and then painted black. All done in less than an hour!

Up next, closing the wings and then glass and masks!

Till next time, be safe, wash your hands with soap and water and above all have fun!

Just a good shot showing the interior so I can get a better idea of the colour. I’m not going to go overboard with details as you can’t see much.

Thanks

I messaged you 12 photos of the interior but I’m not sure if they went through.

Thanks they went through fine.

Does look like a dark grey with green lining on the doors. I can get that sorted easi.

Cheers.

Does the kit come with the little handles along the bottom of the window?

No, but the clear plastic is so thick it disorts everything. I could probably make them up from a bit of wire though. Throttles are something else that’s missing. Not difficult to do.

Thanks

Yeah, since they’re yellow they might be worth doing. They’d stand out against the darker background.

I am going for this build. I have always been a sucker for the “land warfare” camo scheme since I did my first 1/72 Cobra in that scheme 35 years ago.

Research has started - hope the kit will be a breeze :slightly_smiling_face:

Looking forward to it. It’s much more accurate than the Testor’s one.

ok sooo I have seen several asking about an additional extension, I am cool with it I would say Make it the end of September 2026. What say you Please let me know if we have enough in agreement Ill ask the Campaign Gurus to modify it . I am having a lot of fit issues at the moment why my kit soo its taking me a lot longer to make head way.

September would be great for me - I think I could make that. And I really want to build the bronco for this (as others do apparently!).

Wouldn’t say no to an extension. Haven’t managed much recently.
