Picked up a Falco at the Queensland Model Hobbies Expo today, and ordered the decals for MM5701 flown by Sergente Pietro Salvadori of the 95a Squadriglia, 18 Groupo, Corpo Aereo Italiano. It suffered a broken engine oil pipe and subsequently crash landed on the shingle beach at Orfordness, Suffolk

Absolutely beautiful work on the T90 John! The most dynamic pose I have ever seen! And you did it so discreetly - brass rods are nowhere to be seen - just the flying tank! Miraclulous!
The T90 is itself so well done. the build is tight, the paint is right, and the misting gives it the perfect look. Outstanding. The whole scene together is just remarkable.

Sam, is this plastic food containers you are building this from? I cannot see what you are contruction the basic ground work from?

Colin, this will be a fantastic diorama! Love the camouflage on the top wing! Requires some delicate airbrush work. I am sure it will look great.

Yes it is plastic. I just used some empty blueberry and strawberry clear plastic containers. Must recycle! I trimmed and shaped them to give me the right height, then a layer of plaster as a ‘soil’ base. There will be another layer of soil and stones later. The sandbags are the very old and not great Tamiya set, which have a very plastic and uniform look to them. To fix that I’ve been using some fine stockings glued over the bags to provide the right hessian bag look. This has also given them some of the wrinkles and lumps that sand bags get. They’re not looking horrific so it may work in the end.

Great idea, Sam. Both on the sandbags and the plastic containers. Used plastic containers is a great way to get the right shapes for trenches.
My wife will look weirdly at me for starting to wash and hoard used food plastic containers

You can see the difference between the original Tamiya sandbags and those with the stocking on them. More natural shape and texture. I reckon they’ll finish up ok.

Fantastic & accurate base, and a great way of nixing the old Tamiya butterscotch lolly-looking bags 
Let’s hope she doesn’t catch you rummaging through her fine stockings drawer

Added AK sandy terrain to the base..
Made tyremarks though they are hard to see…
And added some stones to outline the ‘road’..

Thanks! I’ve used this a couple of times now, I like this to work with, it’s ‘grainy’ but not to course, and can be diluted with water to use on a model, like I did on my Puma.
